Local tire shop has a damaged ceiling and a hospital trip for some employees, no ether gets used at my shop to seat tires. If we can't seat it, I pay someone else.
afaik MAPP gas hasn't been made in 15+ years.Huh, I use mapp gas. Done up to large backhoe, loader tires.
That was 20 to 30 years ago though. Last one was a Jeep tire, maybe a year ago.
Gives a rush but myself, unless I was trying to show off, I’d just take it to a tire shop.
I have a good one, close by that is reasonable. Don’t feel like having a pail of Murphy’s soap laying around.

I was a lot younger the last time I did it, not sure I would do it any more. My assessment of risks is different now.
That's MAPP Pro. Not the same. Burns at only ~3700*. Propane 3600*.?? - https://www.homedepot.com/p/SIEVERT...timate-Performance-Torch-Kit-269997/325086528
Yeah I've blown more than my luck's share of SSL tires back on the rim with ether back in the day.
Reason 1,069 why I haven't owned a wheeled machine since CTL's have been made.![]()
I believe if you use oxygen instead of air is when MAPP Pro (propylene) really shines, until then it is mostly like propane. That's MAPP Pro. Not the same. Burns at only ~3700*. Propane 3600*.
