    Caterpillar D4C questions.

Hey guys. Is straight sae40 ok for my trans and bevel gear compartment? Thats what the manual says but maybe somebody has some better recommendations. It's really hot here, that's why I'm thinking sae40

    EX35 makes sound when swinging.

So inside the motor this is the problem. The middle gear and one of the outside gears (sun and planetary?) also the outside ring gear that's pressed into the case is bad. What would you guys do? Try to replace these gears or buy a whole new assembly?

    EX35 makes sound when swinging.

I'll just update, in case anyone's interested. I found out the hoses were long enough to hook back to the motor while it was out, so I hooked it back up and ran the swing motor. Yeah it's grinding up a storm and will only spin one way. I'll take the motor apart now to see what's up. Really...

    EX35 makes sound when swinging.

Hi guys. This was making some bad clunk sounds when swinging. I pulled out the swing motor cuz I thought the gears in there were broken or something. But they seem fine. Any ideas, what could it be?

    Hitachi ex35 hydraulic caps

Hi Guys. I've got this old ex35 with 7200 hrs. It started to make some clunk and grind sounds when swinging so I thought I'd better pull out this swing motor. I want to buy some caps for the hydraulic lines and fittings but I'm not sure what kind they are. On Amazon there's a kit called JIC and...

    3204 governor shaft seal replacement.

Great idea,I should have thought of that. I've fixed many fork seals this way, just cut up a water bottle to make a curved plastic blade. This machine has been through so much there's probably already 3 seals pushed in there on top of one another, haha

    3204 governor shaft seal replacement.

It's a seep, like a little wet so it collects dust. Yeah enough said, I'm gonna leave it. Knowing me I'll do $500 damage fixing a $5 part.

    3204 governor shaft seal replacement.

Hi guys. I've decided to try and re-equip my d4c with a decelerator, after taking off the lever I notice this small leak from the seal. Can I dig this seal out and replace it without taking anything apart?

    Caterpillar D4C questions.

How long did that repair last? Im guessing the shops here are capable of something like that.

    Caterpillar D4C questions.

Well there might be someone who could recore it, but if I ask around everyone will tell me how there cousin, brother or friend can do it, they would coat it with plastic or solder it in some weird way then paint it. They'll tell me it's recored, charge me like 10k pesos(like $185), then it will...

    Caterpillar D4C questions.

This is my radiator, it's the second time I've had it out, it was leaking from a rust hole in the bottom before now it's leaking from the top and looks like maybe the middle of the core. I saw I could get a new radiator of eBay for about $1500. What would you guys do, fix the old or buy a new one?

    Caterpillar D4C questions.

I took it to the shop, it's right near my place. There's a lot of corrosion inside and the solenoid contact points had black stuff all over them. The guy cleaned it up reassembled it and charged me ₱500 (about $9). I also found a leak in the radiator so I'm taking that to the radiator shop...

    Caterpillar D4C questions.

Finally took it out. You have to take the bottom pan off to get to the lower bolt. Somebody cut a hole in the side of the frame so you can get to the side bolt easier, it would have been very difficult without that hole. I found out that any starter with an SAE1 flange a 10 tooth gear and...

    Caterpillar D4C questions.

Thanks Nige. That was my first plan. Then this guy quoted me $100 for that starter on Alibaba. So I got to thinking I'd better make sure about the part number. Found out later though he really meant $888 when he quoted $100. So yeah rebuilding looks pretty good again. Moral of the story: buying...
