I have been in earthwork work since I was about 6 years old! my dad and grandfather had a small dirt company and I went with them as much as they would let me. I started loading trucks for them with a Massey Ferguson crawler loader when I was 8, and running a backhoe at 10. The backhoe turned out to be one the most life changing events of my life. Dad was killed when it turned over on him and pinned him under the boom. I was 11... Built my first dumptruck at 13, grand father gave me 2 they had scrapped and said I could have them as long as I built one, so I did, didn't have a license but did have a dump truck...lol, caused trouble later when I was in high school cause my dump truck was in better shape than my pickup, so I did my dating in it!
