Welcome to the Forums LVD! Glad to have you. What year? I am no expert on the subject but trucks close the 1998 purchase were very similar except for badges. Not sure about later years.

Opinions on Equipment Unlimited in Oklahoma

Yep - They aren't even trying hard on the scam. Shimmy my Dad is a tight wad too and the internet is sometimes too much of a temptation. Once he found a 4 piece Milwaukee 18V set for $79 or some ridiculously cheap amount. He was telling me after the fact about it and I said - "You didn't...

Opinions on Equipment Unlimited in Oklahoma

Prices seem unrealistically low. If that's what late model 20teen 289D's are going for I'll keep my 279's. 2018 278D with 2623 listed for $29,965. Quick search of 289D's with 2k to 3K hours on the clock. Average the retail price w/o high and low and the auction w/o high and low and it's...

Newbie buying used Cat Excavator - Opinions, Recommendations ?

We change engine oil and filter at 200 and hydros at 500. EDIT - didn't see Niges response. I might be wasting oil and filters but it's cheap insurance IMO. Either way 3 years and 824 hrs is way too much on a hydro filter on a machine that age. If they haven't changed the oil in 3 years...

Newbie buying used Cat Excavator - Opinions, Recommendations ?

Same difference. Does OP want to mechanic or pay others to mechanic on a 24 year old, 9K hour excavator or tend his cows?

Newbie buying used Cat Excavator - Opinions, Recommendations ?

I would run not walk away from that machine. First off the hydraulic filters haven't been changed in over 3 years and have 765 hrs on them. Second $35K is high for the age, hours and condition. That machine should be in the $25-28K range IMO. The question I would ask my self is -...

A few projects I have done recently

Filling it back in. The fill we are bringing in is some of the best dirt we have in the area and is quite the joy to work with. 2' or so of fill placed, compacted and tested. Had to use a 279D and a trench roller to place and compact the fill due to space constraints and the lab didn't want...

A few projects I have done recently

After some engineering deliberation the dirt docs came up with a plan to excavate 3/4 of the building pad 4' below BOF and fill back with structural fill. So we got paid to haul in structural fill, place and compact and now we are being pad to cut it all out, haul it back to the pit and bring...

A few projects I have done recently

I love commercial work. Sometimes it makes no sense at all but the money is good. At the lab project - So we removed the trees and other site improvements, undercut the building area 2' per geo report, proof rolled it which passed then filled up to subgrade with structural fill. All...

    Insights!

Welcome to the Forums ATL. Glad to have you. There is not a lot of love on the Forum for Sany, me included. Dealer support and quality are the two biggest gripes I have. Ran a few rental machines and were not impressed. The Japanese made mini's are far superior IMO. What type of...

Prepping a house site and building a house

Haven't built a house in a while but here the framing inspector will inspect the insulation and envelope. In one large city the framing inspector has to inspect the orientation and nailing pattern of the sheathing. The framing inspector comes out twice - one for sheathing and one for...

    Topcon laser on bobcat grader

I think you will be happier with the grader blade rather than the box blade coming from a full size grader. The box blade is nice for spreading stone on pads but has very little side to side articulation. A grader blade would work better for us clipping final grade on small parking lots and...
