My names Josh, and I'm a 27 year old ex-con who actually took my time in prison to learn and plan for my future. When I got out of prison in March of 2013 I took the limited experience I gained in prison and I started as a laborer installing underground electrical. I paid attention, learned all I could, and busted ass to move my way up to an operator there, then a crew lead for a heavy civil company, and then a foreman doing utilities again. I hated the industry and the politics of all the companies I saw, and I also wanted to help guys like me stay motivated after prison, so I pushed hard to start my own company and ended up doing that in October of 2019. I'm experiencing a lot of growing pains thanks to an ex-partner and an ex-client, but I'm still pushing for this.
My company Atlas Contracting & Excavating is a northern Colorado based earthwork company that I'm trying to build into a start-to-finish earthwork company that handles everything dirt or utility related, but also has dedicated tree removal, final landscaping, asphalt, and concrete companies that take care of the rest. Eventually I want to get into heavy civil or oil & gas work, but I have a lot to learn about running the business first.
I currently own a CAT 299D3 skid and a CAT 305.5E2 Mini-Ex.
