At the very least you need to post a picture or a description of the problem.

So it looks like there is a need to remove the complete frame from the door etc then I presume the new window will slide in from one end ?

No, the frame gets spread (see step #4 in the procedure I sent). The glass is placed into it by starting it in the lower slide, then spread the frame enough to get the glass in the upper slide.
