I prefer seperate steering levers in a skid steer. I think you have a lot more maneuverability especially in cramped spaces or when the ground is slimy and you need to have each side going the opposite direction.

I hated running the electric over hydraulic Case TR270 for precise work.
Move the joystick... nothing.... nothing.... nothing than BAM and it moves like 8" when I needed 2".
Was borderline unsafe to use with fork tines vs my S250 with levers and foot controls. Way more control.

I ran an early Cat skid steer with joystick steering. Not only did it need the throttle pedal to slow it down for intricate work but if you had to spin turn, the joystick had to be pushed directly sideways in an exact position. It certainly wasn't independent control of each side.

hehe,
Long ago when the series 300 Excavators came about they did not replaced the Hydraulic piloted main Valve body, if i remember it was a series 200 with some electronic assistance. They were lovely to operate, one could almost feel some force feel in the system. I guess after a wile everithing gone with PWM controllers... was not the same.
25 years ago i´ve worked for a contractor that owned an AKERMAN H25 , 50 something Ton excavator with those hydraulic piloted controls , and it was so perfect one could stand up a 55gal metal drum without smasshing it.
Eventually this machine was replaced by a Volvo EC400, that at the time bought this brand, and came with this bulshit electronics... it was never possible to do fine work with this thing even if one turned the grading function on the controller... awfull to work , and the problems that came with it... and not so powerfull... just looked better.
Unfortunatly small dozers did not had this type of control system, i guess it was due to complexity and cost. I bet those D 9/10/11 migh had it, just seen them in pictures....
