    Rgn gooseneck

Looking at it and thinking about 20 years back….. Let the trailer down, let the neck relax, pull shims out of the back, winch neck up so front blocks are loose, remove them, winch neck back up into 5th wheel, block under neck, back up, air up (assuming air ride), hooks near front of neck should...

    Moving to USA

Kelly Tractor, Cat dealer based in FL. They’re also an IMT drill rig dealer. They had several guys from South Africa. Damn good techs too. I believe one recently retired but the other is probably around my age and still working. I bet they’d jump at somebody with your experience. They do...

    Need Dump Truck Advice

I would do a 10 wheeler with a 14-16’ bed. A tandem drive axle setup with full lockers would be ideal. Low gears, 4.11’s or 4.33’s. Doesn’t need to be a 500hp motor. 350 is plenty with a low gear ratio and the right transmission. If you’re a beginner something with an Allison automatic...

    Welder breaker size?

Depends on the machine. It should say what size breaker is required. All of my 220’s are on 40 amp. Each side wall and end wall has its own set of breakers. I’ve run my older 250 amp and my new Lincoln Flextec and have yet to run into a problem unless you have the welder on the wall with the...

    1924 brockway torpedo

Before I got carried away with timing and the like I’d pop the cap off the mag (I assume mag but could be dist) and take a gander at the rotor and contacts in cap. I’d also look at the points. Give them all a quick scuff or file and see if that doesn’t help. If it ran like it should before...

c232 blue smoke out the exhaust after engine replacement

Where did the new engine come from? What was the original failure? New injectors? Turbo? Is the old muffler full of oil and soot from previous failure?

    Hard Turning NTC-290 over

Agreed. Crack the drain plug look for water/coolant in the pan but more than likely it’s just fuzzy in there. I’d be stiff and fuzzy if I was up in that country lol.

Trouble hand turning the crank after replacing main bearings

What brand of overhaul kit did you get? I’ve seen off brand kits have bearings that were not marked the correct size. Maybe you got a .010 or .020 set incorrectly marked.

Cat C7, starts but no throttle or fast idle - help!

Based on my experience if it’s starting and running it’s rarely the ECM. I’d be lookin at wiring or some other input making the ECM kill the throttle. ABS issue? Ghost signal of some sort from vehicle speed sensor? Something in the communication from trans to engine? If their first reaction...

    Large Impact Sockets

How tight does it need to be? You could have somebody with a plasma table or a pattern torch cut one out and fabricate the necessary tool. That big the fit is not as critical. I have 4” but it’s 6 point.

    '88 D3B - Name that part

Cap for a u-joint. Pop the floor out of it and you’ll see the short little driveshaft from engine to trans.
