Sabotage? - making it tamperproof for peace of mind

I had a Kobelco excavator that in the winter, when it was really cold sometimes, it would leak some oil out of the final drives between the sprocket and the housing, when it warmed up, the leak would go away, it was not easy to spot, but there would be a little puddle of gear oil on the tracks...

    Overload of the Day

Stopped and saw this young feller fueling up. Told me he was heading to upstate NY from CT. Was happy I was headed in the opposite direction. Single wheel Chevy. He told me truck has no problem and had plenty of “go juice”….. Unfortunately my picture taking skills blow. You can’t see that the...

Welding on a Thumb Cylinder Mount

I would say natural position. You don't want any binding. Plus, you’ll probably be the only one to notice it’s slightly off center. Otherwise you’ll have to start disassembling the thumb and measuring parts to see where it’s off and to correct the issue to get it to sit centered. Probably not...

    How to freeze bushing ?

See if your local welding supply has liquid nitrogen. Works the best. Some places will loan you a suitable container to transport it in.

Wacker Neuson 3503 Boom Drop/limited fine control on boom cylinder.

I had this issue on a Kobelco excavator years ago after a pilot line to the joystick let go. There were screens on the base of the joystick where the line attached and it had debris stuck to it. Took the new line back off and cleaned the screen and all was good. Not sure that’s the case with...

    Concrete core drills - recommendations

We use a Hilti setup. Seems to work well, don’t know the model off the top of my head. Don’t think you can buy any bits that are cheap. We bought the Hilti water/vac system as well because the guys were burning bits due to lack of water. We also tend to drill inside of basements time to time and...

    2000JCB Backhoe 212S Series 3

Well. “Not used much” “not sure of the hours” and my favorite, “has a new hydraulic pump”. None of those things add up to me. I would DEFINITELY have a heavy equipment mechanic give it a once over for sure. If the old hydraulic pump grenaded and the hydraulic system wasn’t properly cleaned you...

Needing Real World Exp. JCB Teleskid

Dealer support will be key to owning one. NEVER have seen one in my area much less more than one or two regular track machines. The town where I used to operate out of bought one of the track machines and have had nothing but issues and the dealer they bought it from are gone. Now they need to...

JD 450 - Something Is Damaging Track Chain

Run it till destruction. You’ll get plenty of use. The undercarriage rollers, idlers, and bottom rollers probably need to be replaced anyway.i would imagine the pins may have been turned once on the tracks so everything is on its way out. Run it till the tracks won’t stay on. Especially if...

Doosan dx140lcr-5 auxiliary hydraulic setting questions

We have a DX235 that came with a thumb. Went to use the hammer on it and the same thing. Pretty sure you need to get it into “service mode” to turn those options on.

    2007 Kobelco SK115SR Arm/Stick Stuck

Welcome to the forum. If you have it, post up the serial number, so people more knowledgeable than me can help. It kind of sounds like the cylinder could be coming apart inside and the gland is getting stuck in the barrel. Can you see it trying to return once it’s out and stuck? Or is it not...

That’s it. It has a blade connector and it tends to get loose on the connection.

Komatsu PC60-7: Yet ANOTHER Hydraulic Line Failure Today

Sorry to hear about your machine issues Mark, but, and this is a big but, all of things happening is not something that is unheard of on an older machine. Mostly the reason people get rid of a high hour machine. All machines cost money to run and maintain, an older piece of equipment costs more...

    Lemac Quick Coupler not disengaging

It could also be a wiring issue or a solenoid not operating issue. May need to try to trace the wires from the boom to wherever they go and make sure they are not crushed or severed. May also need to trace the wires from the cab switch as well.

    Lemac Quick Coupler not disengaging

Welcome to HEF! Are you curling the bucket all the way in and bottoming out the bucket cylinder when the button is pushed? If not, give that a shot.

    1997 JCB 212S?

They were good machines for their size. Things to look out for - Check out where the front loader is bolted to frame/transmission and make sure the bolts aren’t loose or missing or signs they had been loose, if the mounts are broken or cracked it is not an easy fix. The pedals that drive...

This will be an interesting thread moving forward......

Um. Nobody is locking this guy out. He’s the only one that knows what the Fook is going on there and the only one that knows how to repair anything! Plus, if they did try that he could just send them this thread as proof he did nothing wrong.;)
