    Deere 724K water pump replacement

I got it. I had to make a crude puller by tapping one of the holes in the impeller with 1/4-20, and threading a bolt in there and making a bar to lever / pry on the bolt. Took me 7 hours, but it's out. That straight up sucked.

    Deere 724K water pump replacement

I must not have opened it up all the way, I didn't see that that bulkhead was removable. That would certainly be helpful. I'm also just now realizing I didn't check the EGR cooler. It's a 2010, it should have EGR. I got onsite, saw the sideways weep hole leaking, and stopped there.

    Deere 724K water pump replacement

Hi folks, I think I'm staring down the barrel of a water pump on this loader. I have coolant seeping out what I believe is a weep hole. Odd that it's in the side. I took a pic and tried to draw an arrow to where the hole is, since theres no way I can get my camera in there. Is that where the...

    401c clutch question

That's more or less exactly what's going on here. That first inch or so of travel isn't "free play" at all. That's for the valving in the trans. Exactly what, I don't know (yet). I just put an old screen door spring on that pedal to make it return all the way, and it's back to work. Once I get...

    401c clutch question

Actually, scratch that I can see there is a linkage going over to the valving at the trans. So there is more than regular linkage to a clutch going on there.

    401c clutch question

I broke down and ordered the book for this machine this morning, but until it gets here I have a question about the clutch. I'm troubleshooting a no power / traction situation. My problem was, the tractor moves around the yard just fine, but when it comes time to push, it's like there is some...

    JCB telehandler hydraulic warning light

In case anyone else is wondering, that's the Hydraulic Isolation Fault Indicator. It means the machine has too much tilt, and the hydraulics are locked out.

Hello, been a minute. Does anyone know what this is warning me of! JCB 510-56. Hydraulic getting too hot?

Anybody ever try to fix cavitation holes in sleeves?

This is exactly what I was wondering this morning. I have a similar chat going on a yesterday's tractors forum, and one guy mentioned that the pitting is always in the same spot on these sleeves, and I recognized he was right, and never wondered why until now. I suggested one of the reasons...

Anybody ever try to fix cavitation holes in sleeves?

I know, right? Growing up broke is what made me a mechanic in the first place!

Anybody ever try to fix cavitation holes in sleeves?

Because I'm a glutton for punishment. You should know that by now :)

Anybody ever try to fix cavitation holes in sleeves?

You got a solid point there. In the time I have messed with it already this morning, I coulda gone out, done a job, and made the $ to buy the parts. Yeah this is dumb.

Anybody ever try to fix cavitation holes in sleeves?

It's called SCA additive. I think SCA actually stands for "Supplemental Coolant Additive". I have no idea what it is, chemically, but that's what you need for wet sleeve engines. I call it the pink stuff. A 4.219 kit is around a grand, so we're not talking big bucks. Why would you think it needs...

Anybody ever try to fix cavitation holes in sleeves?

Hi folks, I've worked on 4 or 5 of these old 300/400 series mechanical Deeres over the years and every one of em has failed for the same reason; the user put the wrong coolant in, and the cylinder liners cavitated. For the record, it's not a design flaw of the machine. I'm quite fond of these...

There's no making me happy - this has nothing to do with machinery.

Oof. I tried to fix that last post right away, but it wouldn't let me. In any case, the economics of solar is sound and it's happening. Y'all have a nice weekend.

6-7K tax rebates for 4 years is the ROI at this moment. No energy company is going to buy back energy, I don't believe I ever said that. If I did, it was in error. Excel Energy will this point, give you a credit based on KWH and time of day and time of year. That rate changes when the wind...
