3306 spoils a day at the races

Second test results arrived. To my mind, they have only made the situation even more confusing. The focus now seems to be on coolant ingress...high sodium? Around 50hrs ago we drained the ELC to replace a transmission cooler and refilled with ELI (no glycol) They say viscosity is below the...

Oil and Gas industry people, what are these pipes used for?

Quick question to confirm….. would your parents have been at the race meeting on the weekend that I mentioned in my other thread?

Well I have seen that truck of yours go through town a couple of times but that’s all I’ve got. Leave it with me, I’ll send you a PM if I work it out.

We might get a scud if we’re lucky. Our place is marked on the 128k Taroom loop so we are able to accurately track storms as they slip past us. More likely to just lose power as we are on the end of a swer line.

I’ll, more than likely, go the reman route for a little peace of mind. Certainly won’t be the eBay special. I have read some mention of a weep hole or tell tale but have yet to find one.

I once thought about digging a six inch hole and sliding one of those victaulic pipes in, maybe rattling some rapid set down the outside if it was a bit loose. Never tried it though.

3306 spoils a day at the races

Unfortunately, I can’t do the sniff test or the paper towel test as I disposed of the oil a week ago because I wasn’t expecting this problem at all. New oil with only 12 hrs certainly doesn’t smell like diesel. Huge price range for new pumps…from $100 on eBay to $900 for gen. reman or $1280 for...

3306 spoils a day at the races

So I was enjoying an afternoon at the races on Saturday when I get a call from our Cat dealer’s SOS lab. He wanted to give me a heads up that the sample from our D7H that I had sent in a few days before was indicating significant fuel entry in to the engine oil. He later sent the results through...

    My D6D

Good way to test the breaking strain of a shackle. We have some light high tensile for the leads of our chain. Have to use a bow shackle to get a drawbar pin through it and this is the biggest that will fit. With the 6R and 7H tugging on each end we still get a couple of hundred hours out of...

    New Caterpillar 265 Skids

I can’t see us having a need for anything more than 2D at this stage. Just doing pads for sheds, cattle yards, feedlot pens etc. Smaller areas that are too tight for a grader. Trimble have quoted $12k for Earthworks Go! 2.0, including two receivers, so that’s around $8.5k US. Still waiting to...

    New Caterpillar 265 Skids

As expected, late June delivery of our machine didn’t happen but we are due to pick it up next week. Just wondering if you ended up putting the GB120 on your machine and what you needed to add to make it work. Only looking for 2D and our machine has the IMU package. We have Topcon receivers that...

Oil and Gas industry people, what are these pipes used for?

Yep, auctions suck. I was at a Santa sale the other day. Upset price was $6000 with $2000 bids. Place a bid and by the time you get another you’re another 4K up. Makes it tough.

Another ex-mines product that we’ve used a bit of is this victaulic pipe. Six inch diameter, only thin wall, might be 2mm at most, but is hot dipped gal. We completely fill with concrete for added strength or to make them look pretty but mostly just fill to above ground level and leave the top...

    Cummins loss of prime solution

I’ll keep that in mind…we’ve always used a Fleetgaurd FS1000 on ours, which is also a long filter. No problems as yet, might take 4 or 5 seconds to fire up, hot or cold.

    Fiat Allis 14c

Yeah, I don’t know Tones. I have had a bit of time on a couple of 16s but only ever seen one or two 11s in the flesh. This B series machine has two.

    Fiat Allis 14c

They were a good tractor, some would say better than the 14C which is about the same size, 150 hp. When Fiat bought into AC, the new company marketed the HD11 for a while before dropping it in favour of the 14. Parts would be difficult to source.. the same with the 14 but at least parts for...

    Fiat Allis 14c

Not this one perchance? It is actually an Allis Chalmers HD11 B Series. It may have been badged Fiat-Allis from new but it certainly wouldn’t have had 14C on it.

Some guy has a wheel loader on his property. I need to get it started. However, I'm an absolute complete NOOB

Iam impressed. It took all of 2 seconds to google up this very comprehensive operators manual. You can’t do that for most modern machines. https://www.tractorparts.com/PDFs/MICH_175B_OPS427C438C.pdf
