I’ve seen a couple bobcat E85s out there in my price range. With hydraulic thumb. Kinda light at 10 tons but what is the consensus on the bobcat quality and size? Considering all the rock on this land I’m also a bit concerned about rubber tracks.

https://www.facebook.com/marketplace/item/1344647336731376/?mibextid=wwXIfr Wondering if this is in the size range. Looks like it might be close to what I should be searching for… I missed out on a CAT955 tracked loader this week. 2500 bucks! …not running but for 2500 it would have been worth...

Well, top of the mountain is layers but it has been shedding that rock for millions of years so farther down lots of loose stone. If I want to build a stone castle all the raw materials certainly there!

Thanks again for all the info, I’ll keep lurking here and post if anything happens. On the flip side you know I’m in the market if anyone runs across a good deal close to Bedford PA let me know. Still have a few months before the move back East but I’m always interested in a good deal.

I built a quarter mile driveway through a swamp with my JCB 1400b backhoe 4x4… only got it stuck once. Had to get a truck wrecker to pull it out! I did lease a tracked dresser front end loader to move tons of fill. But I’m with you that sometimes you just do with the thing you have until you...

Well that’s a buzzkill! But… you probably are not wrong. I can’t imagine what all that would cost. But I’m still a few months from it first data point is establishing that first estimate. Probably make better decisions from there…. Much of it will determine how far up we put the house and what...

https://www.facebook.com/share/14cyaNifFt/?mibextid=wwXIfr With an older machine can a progressive thumb be added? High flow pumps required? What year does that not become an issue?

All great input! First thanks for the specific models and manufacturer… that helps and also the gouge on the progressive thumb requirement. Permitting is pretty lax in that part of Pennsylvania but yes I will check. One doesn’t last 35 years in the military without learning to follow rules...

Plus I’m learning a lot of the terminology, just from your posts… ITR= rubber tracks, CTL compact skid steer, tracked. Good stuff. Is there a prebuy inspection guide out there of things to check for? I know on aircraft there is a list of things to be aware of that you will have to fix but...

Thanks all! Laidback I hope to be in your shoes someday. I’m using this equipment for my purposes on my land. I do enjoy fixing things… my 2001 truck has 350000 miles on it, diesel still going good as new. 7.3.
