    Overload of the Day

I got my CDL without taking a test. Well it was before CDL's It was for a class 3 I think. I had a road test setup, but it snowed that day and I had to plow. My permit ran out so I went to DMV to renew it. Looking at the paperwork, if I didn't show one sheet, they would give me a class 3. I...

This will be an interesting thread moving forward......

I like the check tool length. Is that for your tool? I think you should have her check that out often! Just to be sure it's ok.

To Change Lower half or not

I think you guys have way over complicated this engine rebuild. It's an old old machine stuff some new bearings, pistons and rings in it and run it. You're going to measure end play? Why if it's off are u buying a new crank? Someone suggested Cleaning up the crank with emery paper! That will...

Cat 980B 336 V-8 overhead cam has cracked heads

I had a bad transmission in a 980B. I found a cat rebuilt for a 980A at a very reasonable price. I looked through all of the parts and only the case and a couple parts were different. That's when Bob/Ont told me the 3306 would break the case.

Cat 980B 336 V-8 overhead cam has cracked heads

Read the above replies from Bob/ont. The transmission case is to weak for the 3306. Maybe if you lower the horsepower it would last.

CAT 320C Watusi wobble -- right track

It's probably putting extra pressure on the track pins and bushings. Trim the edge off with a torch as Cmark suggested for now.

    1988 Mack Superliner RW613 Tri-axle heavy hauler.

I hope you got all of the broken axle. We did the same as you once and a stray piece wiped out the rear.

    Winter Works

I always plowed with an 18 or 20 foot box. Plowing with a 10 footer would make me crazy. LOL We had 40 acres of lot to plow so plenty of room.

The engine cartridge-style filters as an upgrade? I though those were gone in the 70's

What's with the curved I beams? Is that a house? What will the roof be? Or is it going to be a huge skylight?

Small Cat tilt cylinder: Take to Cat dealership or regular hydraulic shop for reseal?

This is from Willie 59 on the ballpeen procedure. I heat cylinders for gland removal only as a last resort. Heating (expansion) and the subsequent cooling (retracting) can possibly distort the steel from it's original shape. You have an aluminum gland in a steel cylinder, dissimilar metals...

Solar battery tender or trickle charger recommendations?

West marine batteries are made by Deka/East Penn. Don't buy them there as they're crazy expensive, because they're for marine use. Same battery just marked up. They do make them up to 8D.

Solar battery tender or trickle charger recommendations?

Deka batteries are the best I've ever used. No matter what we put them in they lasted at least 5 years. Some lasted 8 or 9 years.

To Change Lower half or not

I agree . Put on if it runs good Great. If it won't run, it just costs you a new head gasket and your time .
