    Wet bath or grease bearings?

Would like to hear anyone's experience with wet bath (bobcat) vs. greased bearings in a skid steer. Which one gets the award for longer lasting with less trouble? Are the greaseable zerks on the NH series worth having in the long run? Which one gets the award for least amount of time/ease of...

New Holland LX, LS, and L series aftermarket cab and heat

Installed a cab enclosure kit for a New Holland LS180 last week. Kit included the front door with side and upper filler pieces, and sliding side glass windows. Pretty nice fit and finish. Had to notch left side window frame around throttle base, and take care not tighten the side window...

Case 440ct hydraulic whine (similar to 440 tire machine)

Hydro whine loudly appears in between idle and half throttle, quiet at half, loud again in between half and full. Loudest right above idle. Somewhat quiet at full. Noise mostly disappears when boom, bucket, or auxiliary hydro circuit is operated. Noise remains when machine travels. Machine...

    Bobcat controls jerking or jumpy

I've discovered part of the problem why many low hr bobcat controls (traditional hand and foot) seem jumpy at times even when all the linkage is tight above the drive pump area. 1)the damper shocks on the steering levers are secured to the same metal plate the fuse box is secured to. The tabs...

    Boom cylinder fatigue????

Working on a Gehl 5640E with what I initially thought was a twisted/racked boom (cutting edge wearing thin only on one side). Hits bump stops at 3/8 to 1/2"" intervals. I've had to re-twist these in the past when boom was racked from hitting a bucket corner on a curb or manhole cover at a...

    ASV SR80 electrical issues

Machine is around a 2007 and will not unlock posi drive or boom hydraulics. Had trouble finding a schematic of the electrical systems in these machines, but found a pdf here: http://www.tractorbynet.com/forums/parts-repairs/338666-asv-sr80-sr70-pt80-terex.html My wife took the file on a...

ls170 New Holland voltage slow to rise

My friend's Ls170 charges fine, but the voltage is slow to climb (takes about 5 to 7 seconds to get to 14 volts) when started, thus it triggers the light and alarm. Any ideas? Weak ground to the alternator? Starts immediately with lots of starter power. thanks!

takeuchi tl130 fuel and temp gauges not working

I'm being lazy since it's the holiday, so I haven't bothered to look into this at all, but anyone off the top of their head have similar issues with the temp and fuel gauges working intermittently? Both will not work, then will work after cycling ignition, sometimes have to wait for a couple of...

    Bobcat 773G losing hydraulic functions

Friend of mine's 773 G is losing hydraulic boom and tilt functions when using the auxiliary hydro's in a grapple bucket (machine only has 1500 hrs). After one or two crunches it will lose boom/tilt/aux functions and the only way to get them to operate is to shut the machine down and start...

Cutting edge on back of bucket?

I have a friend who is almost retired from excavating. He mentioned that he can grade like no one's business with his old 953 Cat...the secret being a cutting edge on the back of the bucket. So I put one on the CAT's 80" bucket. WOW, it's incredibly useful. Grades much better forwards or...

    Cat hour meter....anyone know?

Anyone know what the A series CAT tire machine hour meter is tied into for it to operate and collect hours? Is it just tied to the ignition circuit being charged, as in leaving the key on, or is it tied to a sensor on the engine? If I remember correctly, the hr. meter has three wires to it.

Case 440 with 445t/m2 pre heater????

Looking for info on a Case 440 with the 445t/m2 - doesn't have a pre heater in the intake manifold square (where they normally are). Anyone know how it pre heats? I can't find a thing. When key is cycled the glow light comes on and stays on for approx. 10 seconds, goes out, but I hear no...

Gehl Tandem drive pumps - leaking oil between them

So I've got a leak between these two tandem Eaton drive pumps, even when sitting it seeps, so I took them apart and checked shaft play on both and have none that I can determine. O ring was there, maybe was a little hard, but not distorted. Where they join there are matching holes for oil to...

Having problems with CAT hour meter?

Thought I'd post about CAT's typical problem with their hour meters on their earlier A and B machines. Often times you'll see the screen beginning to fade, then a couple numbers begin to disappear, only to end up with nothing showing. I have found this can often be fixed in ten or fifteen...

Takeuchi TL150 - coolant sensor wire

Could anyone tell me where to look for the coolant sensor wire on the Takeuchi Tl150 - it's light blue...fan blade accidentally ate it for lunch, and can't for the life of me locate where the wiring harness side of it is. Machine still runs fine though. Thanks much!

What's a good way to get out a lower arm bushing on a Takeuchi TL150?

I can't get the head of my plasma torch inside to zip all 6 or 7" or so of it. Don't have liquid nitrogen to contract it quickly. Don't have a stick welder handy to weld on it, then cool it rapidly. My mig gun is a spool gun, so I can't really get it inside all that much either. It won't...
