Change govener on 8V71 Hard to do?

Yeah, Scrub, they were used in nearly anything one could imagine. There was a motor coach[bus] that had an 8v71 left hand rotation on its side mounted crossways with an angle drive 3 or 4 speed trans with wet clutch. When the back hatch was opened you were looking at the top of the blower.:eek...

Change govener on 8V71 Hard to do?

As has been said no difference in oil drain back to pan. Certain industrial engines may have a different oil pump, oil pan, flywheel housing & different accessories. Block, heads & blower are the same.

Change govener on 8V71 Hard to do?

If it has a Woodward governor, then the complete governor housing on the front of the blower will need to be changed. Pictures of the engines would help, also what is the engine in ,i.e.. pump, generator, etc.

Change govener on 8V71 Hard to do?

I agree with HATCHEQUIP, get a book for v-71's or get with someone. But the biggest difference between industrial [variable speed ] & automotive [limiting speed] governor is the governor cover & the spring pack. you don't have to change the complete governor if you are going from limiting speed...

    off road fuel

shadow, I think your best bet would be to get double wall tanks like CM said. A lot of the contractors here in the Fairbanks area use them. Do any of your fuel suppliers have tanks you can rent or use? ValleyFirewood, Here is a link http://www.epa.gov/otaq/regs/fuels/diesel/420f05028.pdf

    off road fuel

Alaska is exempt from using dyed fuel. If we had to use dyed fuel the fuel barge companies would have to have another fleet of barges, & a lot of the bush villages would have to have another tank farm for the non dyed fuel , Some of the villages use one fuel which is Jet A so they can use it...

    Highway log trucks.

mitch504, the reasons for the type of trailers used out west are that the way the trailer is set up the trailer tires will track in the truck tracks, therefore it will negotiate a tighter corner, switchbacks,& narrower roads in the woods. By carrying the empty trailer on the truck the weight of...

    Scissor Lifts

What are you supposed to tie the harness off to? Does it have anchor points that are rated for 5000 lbs? I can't recall seeing any tie off points on any scissor lifts that I've been around. Mike

Questions on a 79 int 10 wheeler. Need input!

I'm sure your old one is getting tired, that's alot of miles for a 2 stoke Detroit. Here in Alaska you would consider yourself really lucky to get 200,000 out of one.

Questions on a 79 int 10 wheeler. Need input!

I take it off the rack control tube & plug the boost line. With it off it runs the same as an engine without it. As far as the mini bypass, you want that. Without the bypass the turbo can only get so much air past the blower rotors.

Questions on a 79 int 10 wheeler. Need input!

I think you are describing the throttle delay system. It keeps the rack from going into full fuel until the boost pressure reaches a certain point. It is to help keep it from blowing black smoke when you stand on the throttle. It works like Cat's rack limiter or the aneroid on the older Cummins...

Questions on a 79 int 10 wheeler. Need input!

Ihave to agree with OzDozer. The 60 series is an electronic engine which brings another problem, making it work in a non electronic chassis. Your could be leaking coolant around the liner o-rings or the injector tube o-rings. Do you have any coolant coming out the air box drains? Pressurize the...

some eye candy from Kenworth Northwest

The blue T800WH with the lift axle looks to be a Carlile Transportation unit, probably headed up here [Alaska] as a lowboy tractor. I wonder if the 2 tandem steer/tridrive are'nt going to be set up as picker trucks for the oil patch. Camex Equipment in Alberta builds picker trucks,bedtandems...

    Quad 9 & 641's in Alaska

That Quad & 641's used to belong to Alaska Unlimited out of Fairbanks. Wilder bought the scraper spread in the late 1980's. MB Contracting out of Anchorage had a Quad & a fleet of 651b's, I don't know where MB' stuff went when it was auctioned several years ago. Green Construction had a Quad...

    1845C case Aux. Hydraulic problems

On my 1845c [1997 vintage], the the power beyond port has a hose that goes to the supply port on the aux. valve. the return from the aux. valve comes back & is teed into the return from the loader valve to the tank. My machine doesn't & never has had hi-flow hydraulics. I'll see if I can...
