Busted CAT 234-0732 hand throttle cable

I have a 2012 CAT 252B3 s/n TNK01281 with 2,600 hours on it that started to not drop to low idle. I figured it was due to a sticky foot peddle or seizing cable but put the issue on the back burner for a few weeks. Then the hand throttle cable snapped. No big deal. An easy fix. But when I called...

CAT Hydo Advanced 10 vs ISO 32

Ok, reading through some past posts on here and maybe my ISO 32 isn't a quality grade. Northern Tool doesn't have "farm", "tractor", or "universal" in the name but it does have "tool" and "equipment" :) Since the machine is new to me in the last 600 hours. I'm thinking I should do a full...

CAT Hydo Advanced 10 vs ISO 32

I have a 2012 CAT 252B3 with 2,400 hours on it and C3.4 engine s/n TNK01281 and yesterday while running the snow blower, the fan motor on the blower apparently lost its bearings and dyed all the snow coming out of the chute a nice hydraulic oil yellow. My plan was to buy CAT Hydo Advanced 10 to...

    CAT 252B3 starts, sputters, dies

I called CAT and they said it is clear. Apparently, the parts site doesn't always show correct parts images.

    CAT 252B3 starts, sputters, dies

I wish there was some way to get a valve down there so I could just drain water and sediment. Removing the 1" NPT plug is kindof an all in situation on draining everything. Even when the tank is basically empty for running the machine there is still 2-3 gallons in the bottom. @heymccall I'd...

    CAT 252B3 starts, sputters, dies

Yeah, I've only had it for the last 1-1/2 years and drained it 3 times now but all in the winter. Now that I know what a problem water can be, I'm planning to start draining it every spring and fall when things aren't frozen which will be about every 250 hours. And draining my bulk tank as well.

    CAT 252B3 starts, sputters, dies

So the problem was ice. The tank must have finally gotten warm enough to melt some of the ice in it and it refroze blocking the suction inlet. I started a little fire under the machine to thaw it out, ran it for a few hours to get it warm, and fully drained the tank again. Added fresh known...

    CAT 252B3 starts, sputters, dies

No, mine is a 361-9555 that is a one piece

    CAT 252B3 starts, sputters, dies

Thanks Heymccall! I didn't even think of lifting the cab! I'm sure that'll make it easier. I did drain the tank a couple months ago but I'd like to do it again in a couple months or so when the machine is completely thawed out. I did my best to warm it before draining but still had to chip...

    CAT 252B3 starts, sputters, dies

The fuel filter and separator are one piece and I just replaced it today so I'm ruling that out. I'll pull the fuel line tomorrow and see what I find. Now I just need to find a very tiny person to squeeze back there and pull it off the tank

    CAT 252B3 starts, sputters, dies

Yeah, I've done that filter head cleaning a few months ago. Found a leaf and that fixed one of my issues then. My thought now was the screen should keep it from getting plugged again. Separator was drained on Saturday. Fuel tank was warmed and flushed a couple months ago after finding the leaf...

    CAT 252B3 starts, sputters, dies

I have a 2012 CAT 252B3 with 2,400 hours on it and C3.4 engine s/n TNK01281 that starts, sputters, and dies like it's starving of fuel. Today it was 35F and sunny. It started great as always. Idled for about 5 minutes to warm up and then I noticed it was slightly vibrating. I got in the cab to...

    Stuck flat-faced coupler

Yeah, I've tried the usual tappy-tap but this time it seems more stuck. I even applied pressure through the other end and it still didn't move. Maybe I forced it on too hard last time and damaged it. I do remember it being quite the pain recently.

    Stuck flat-faced coupler

These are on my snowblower. I wouldn't think of that pulsating at least not like a hammer. These were Faster brand. Are there better brands or are those good?

    Stuck flat-faced coupler

I'll do that. They're barely 14 months old. I guess nothing is made to last anymore

    Stuck flat-faced coupler

I'm used to these things giving me issues -- especially freezing but I haven't had this happen before. Any ideas on why this coupler is stuck in this position? I've even successfully attached it to the machine and removed it again and it still only goes to this position. I tried warming it...

CAT 252B3 losing power when below freezing

I'm just looking at getting some 12v heat tape and wrapping it in insulation. I have 120v heat tape on the filter now but that's only good while plugged in. I did some math on it the other night and if I can apply just 15 watts, it should raise the temp 20° during light work. Three feet of tape...

CAT 252B3 losing power when below freezing

I plan on it but most of the winter equipment around here is older and can probably handle a little waxing. Most of my neighbors have heated shops also where they keep their snow pushers and fuel. Probably a reason for that. I still think the inline heater is the solution. I think I found...

CAT 252B3 losing power when below freezing

ThreeCW do you guys have bio in your winter fuel up there? Your climate is similar to ours right now. Curious if your equipment sits outside and has any waxing issues. I know you said your fuel is rated to -27 deg F but does it have bio?

CAT 252B3 losing power when below freezing

The tobacco board says cigarettes are good for you. I wonder what a study funded by the petroleum board would find. Or a study funded by the cold climate snow pushers board. All I know is I have waxing when I shouldn't and high cloud point bio seems likely the culprit. Hopefully, it is just B5...
