D6N XL 590-9 247-9 Codes No Communication to ECM

For what it's worth, I've had several ECM's on different machines that decided to get a short internally & blow fuses. The Cat dealer wasn't able to get anything from the old ECM s for configuration of the new ones.

980c loader no forward or reverse

You will need to disconnect the cables at the transmission and see if the control valve spools can move. You may have to remove the operator seat & plate from the floor of the cab for access from memory.

    Cat ET system

Mine isn't genuine either. It's been working without fault for several years now, but won't work on the 14 pin. Mine was a wifi unit, so I don't know if that makes a difference. I'll just order another adapter for the newer machines. Thanks for the reply.

    Cat ET system

Does anyone know if you can make an older 317-7485 communicator work with the new 457-6114 14 pin connector cable? I have tried what I thought is the latest firmware in the ET toolkit, but I still don't get power when I connect to a 950M. The later 478-0235 communicator works but I don't own that.

Cat 730 Fan Motor Slow B1M Serial

I haven't looked at the schematic again, but that main control valve block under the cab has a few shuttle valves underneath the fittings that tend to get little pieces of hardened o-ring in them which jams the ball from moving, which may be stopping the fan circuit from upstroking the pump. If...

Cat 3208 Injector Pump Bench Testing

From memory, while testing the pumps on the test bench the governor was only held at full throttle. I don't think there was any tests for different throttle positions. This was about 40 years ago, so that may not be the case. I would think that your pump would be fine for your application...

Cat 3208 Injector Pump Bench Testing

When testing the pencil injectors if they are the ones with the caps on top, they need to be removed while testing or on other types, the little screw on the side needs to be removed, otherwise the injectors hydraulic lock and the needles won't open. I never worked out why they don't do that...

    highest hour dozer....

At a mine I was at we had 7 x D9N's. One had over 100000 hours when I left. The others weren't far behind. Engines used to last about 15000 hrs, transmissions up to 25000, Final drives & clutches around 40000. Tracks about 4000 max. On an island that was hard to get new gear into so...

Cat 3208 Injector Pump Bench Testing

Just to rule any differences out, maybe it's worthwhile swapping injectors between the lines to see if the outputs stay the same. I've had some new pencil injectors recently that didn't work properly.

Using AV Spare for parts sourcing

Phone number that we have doesn't answer now and the email stopped replying as soon as we made the money transfer to a New York bank.

Using AV Spare for parts sourcing

Maybe we just got a dud one. Everything we looked up seemed to be legitimate, so we spent the US$5000 and never heard from them again. The website is still operational.

Using AV Spare for parts sourcing

Don't know if I'm allowed to put the business name in, but it was DDD Marine.

Using AV Spare for parts sourcing

Has anyone had success in purchasing parts through quotes on the AV Spare site? We recently needed 2 x 8P8208 Caterpillar transmission pumps that Cat had no stock of. We got several quotes through AV Spare and purchased the pumps from a Florida parts dealer. The company seemed quite legitimate...

    Cat 30 wade transmission oil

Transmission pump and torque converter scavenge pumps are both mounted at the back of the transmission. The t/c scavenge is above the transmission pump. I haven't seen a 621 for about 25 years, so I'm not overly familiar.

    Cat 30 wade transmission oil

Did the pump get rebuilt as well? I would still think that if the oil is foaming up it is getting air from somewhere.

    Cat 30 wade transmission oil

Sounds like it might be sucking air. Are the suction screen seals & gaskets ok on the transmission & torque converter? How is the hose from the transmission to the transmission pump? What are transmission pressures when at operating temp.

    Cat 980G won’t move

The park brake actuator chamber can be manually released by turning the rod. Should tell you which way in the Op & Maint manual. Maybe the brake shoes on are sticking inside the drum by rust or being over centre. I think it's unlikely that the wheel brakes are locking on. You could undo a...

    Cat 980G won’t move

The 149 fault code is related to the ride control. Are you sure the park brake is releasing? Is the brake pedal jammed down?

    Machine pulsating on breaks

My problem was the same. One transmission accumulator was empty and leaking. Replaced it but made no difference to the hydrostatic torque calibration - kept failing on out of range. Replaced the seals on the tubes from the valve body to the variator & cleaned/inspected the A & B solenoid...

    311C stalling under load

Sounds like the powershift is doing it's job & trying to keep the revs reasonably constant. I had a 312 that probably had the same engine as yours that was doing similar & we found that the turbo was actually seized. The electronic & hydraulic controls were good enough to keep the machine...
