    Cat D7R

I saw this on Thursday at an auction in the UK. It appeared totally original and almost brand new. However,it had Japanese livery on it and I suspect it could soon become a headache getting dealer back up for it. Would be fantastic in somebody’s collection if they had the money, otherwise it will...

    Cat 980H problem

Good evening. I’ve a Cat 980H just passing through my yard and this light keeps popping up. I’ve no history whatsoever on it,but it started and ran fine whilst loading it onto lowloader etc. I’m curious as to what the problem is. It’s just moving around the yard and flashing up. I’ve nowhere to...

    Dozer blade mole board question

I know it’s abit of a daft question, but can anyone tell me the correct term for the bit of a blade that the corner shoes and cutting edges sit on please. I’ve spent 30 years referring it as a mole board, yet I’ve receantly heard it as a Mold board by a chap with greater knowledge than me.

Can you effectively triple push pull scrapers?

Good morning. Over here in the UK I’ve worked with plenty of scrapers over the years, but although I’ve driven TS24’s with p/p equipment fitted,I’ve never actually used it. Over here,it’s allways a push load operation, however there are now a few scrapers here with the p/p set up in use. Obviously...

    Nice working D8H in England

My youngest son and I took a road trip over the North Yorkshire in England over the weekend to visit a few friends. It’s pretty wet and miserable now here in the UK,but the rippers are still clanking away keeping a few coins in the bank. Serviced a D8 and 2 D9’s last week and fitted new segments to one. The D8 will be getting new transmission oil in it over the Christmas break. They all get new tranny filters...

    3406 HUEI engine

Good morning. I was discussing HUEI engines last week for no particular reason and we were trying to figure out approx when Cat added HUEI pumps to their 3406 engines in D8R’s,621F’s,16H etc? I’ve allways avoided them at all costs on the recommendation of the chap that helps me out with the...

    Boron cutting edges?

Good evening gents. Forgive my ignorance, but I’ve just been quoted on corner shoes from various manufacturers and one has offered Boran items that are only a couple of quid dearer than ‘normal’ edges. I don’t know what that is? I once bought Berco Qualitough D8 edges years ago and they cracked...

    D8 and D9 idler sizes?

    D9T muckrail on blade

It’s a sore point for me when I see muck rails on blades being regularly mangled by excavators mauling them out of a soft spot.It shoes bad management from the top down. Don’t get me wrong,I’ve yanked them out that way in the past, but in the days of no muck rails and hyd tilt rams. I’ve had this...
