New guy here needing advice on equipment for clearing land.

on the face of it your plan sounds really good. in practice it rarely works out that great. There is this thing called murphys law. However you will learn a lot. It commonly works out someone buys a fifty year old machine. Then replaces all the hoses one at a time. then the engine, trans or final...

New guy here needing advice on equipment for clearing land.

Ive wore out dozers clearing land for rice farming. Extensively bulldozed hill ground for pastures dug ponds ect. For only 25 acres it really isn't feasible to buy a dozer to get it cleared. Get a big chain saw and saw the trees low enough to the ground to brushhogg over them. A good heavy 4...

the old caterpillar sleeves where so hard a hone wouldn't touch them. Cat recommended making up a rig with a electrolyte (battery acid) soaked felt covered wood plunger and using a battery and electrically etching the cyl walls. We installed a new set of chrome rings in a old 1950,s D7. It...

Engine rebuilders(wet sleeve pullers) which one is best?

Ive got a really old one that hasn't got any identification. I think its a army surplus one. Mine uses a 1 inch fine thread bolt and has a thrust washer . its pretty easy to use. slow as a snail but will remove the stuck frozen sleeves very easily. Ive also used it to remove and install bushings.

D7 3T Cat (around 1954), need help finding parts specifically a radiator

The 3T and 17A use the same radiator. A new core is going to be hard to find and will be pricey. The fan is a pusher and sand and grit will sandblast away the radiator and cause it to become thin & leak. Solder it and the solder quickly wears away. So remove radiator and remove both tanks...

Thats something to consider. Wages in Arkansas are low. So are property taxes. I bought gasoline for $1.81 yesterday. The bottom line if your a employer or employee it isn't how many dollars you gross it,s how much you get to keep. I know two sawmillers one has semi trucks skidders big...

    Operator's Wages

the Mexicans have got the operator wage down to the minium wage here in Arkansas. There are almost no union jobs in Arkansas and most of the Missouri Ozarks. There simply is plenty of help and very few jobs. The towns are dying. But things are looking up there building hundreds of stinking...

Get a line of credit and shop for bargains. Rent to buy that way if its not up to snuff you can let them have it back. The down time & repairs on used equiptment will sometimes make the payments on brand new. Ive did ok with used stuff. However I bought it very cheep and im a above average...
