Are Cat backhoe buckets interchangeable across the different 416 and 420 models? Like a 416c to and a 420D.

    Cat 420d swing cylinder drift

Finally found another post pertaining to my issue with a different backhoe make. Sounds like I’ll be redoing the cylinder seals with a compression trick I just learned through the other post.

Reseated the plug on the solenoid, and tapped on it a few times. Return-to-dig functionality is back.

    Cat 420d swing cylinder drift

2005 BLN11341. Still new to me machine. Repacked both swing cylinders (both leaking bad) prior to operating hoe portion of machine enough to know it’s norm. If the hoe is off level, the boom will drift to the downhill side. It does this in both directions. If the hoe is extended with the...

    Cat 420D return to dig

2005 BLN11341. Return to dig stopped working. There is no move movement of front bucket when the pilot joystick is moved into the return-to-dig position from a dumped bucket. Fuse has power. I was in some brush, but I don’t see anything obvious when looking under the machine. Thoughts?

    Cat 420D multipurpose bucket valve

What exactly does this valve do and what’s its proper use? I’ve read the portion on disconnecting the bucket to swap tools, and have swapped back and forth with forks. I am still new to this machine, so I’m not 100% that I’m doing it right. Thanks!

    420D oil plug damaged

I inserted a Dornan plug for now. I’ll have to figure out what I want to do for the long run. I did retrieve a spring-looking piece of material from the oil outlet. What is that for exactly? Could that have been causing the misthred issue? It did look deformed while inside.

    420e forks

I bought a set for my 420D 3 hours away for $1450. Found someone someone selling a cat backhoe and the person buying didn’t want the forks. Simply asked the guy directly about it on Facebook Marketplace. Found another pair on Craigslist for $2500. There are out there, just have to be patient.

    420D oil plug damaged

2005 BLN11341. My 420D has 2 oil plugs. The one I removed must have been cross-threaded by the previous owner. I took it all the way out without even thinking about using the other plug. This one will neither thread in the oil pan straight, nor tighten. Is there a method to permanently block...

2005 BLN11341. Machine has pilot controls. Looking for the boot part #s that are on the the bottom of the Pilot Control arms (L&R), that met up with the floor of the cab. Also would like to verify that 180-5795 is the correct lower seat cushion for this machine.
