    Some news from Canada...

I figured it was a while since I posted here... We've been über-busy all summer long!! Between swapping a 16v in my '94 VW Golf and many hours here at the office, I have'nt had much time to myself. We're in the last stretch before the trade show held in Montreal tomorrow... I'll be joining our...

Which is exactly the point of my question!! :) Great responses from everyone here. I feel that everybody plays a part in designing something... and it does'nt have to do with wether or not you have a ring on your pinkie. Everything around you was build to answer the same question: what do I...

Help me design a hook for mini excavator buckets...

Like the title says... I'm currently finishing up our new trenching and ditching bucket lineup for compact to large class excavators. I'll soon be starting the mini excavator series (10000Lbs and smaller) and I'm wondering about the hook we usually weld in the back. Here's a bucket for...

Benefits of excavator over track loader

Same in our area!! If people need a large area done in a short time, they just get a 40-50 ton excavator to do the work. The added expense of getting the bigger machine there is quickly offset by the added versatility of the machine. We've built some high capacity ditching buckets 84" wide for...

Okay, I need help ASAP!! We're building a quick coupler for a Volvo 290BLC excavator and I need to get a dimention taken on the machine. Currently, no dealer in the province has any, they're not a very popular model!! Most people use the 240 or skip directly to the 330. Anyhoo... is there...

    Choosing the right thumb

I just changed my signature... check the link in it... BTW, the website pictures may not be the best up to date stuff for now... I'm in the midst of completing our new bucket lineup and I'll be moving onto other excavator attachments shortly. These will include rippers, rakes and thumbs.

    Choosing the right thumb

That's a pin mounted thumb indeed. It even has what is called a progressive link. With a weld-on thumb we try to get around 130* of rotation, a pin-mounted unit typically reaches 140-150* and if you add the progressive linkage we can easily reach up to 180*. They are more expensive though...

    Yet another new guy!!

Not really wanting to put my foot in it regarding up front advertising on the forum here, I'll keep my comments neutral in the interest of fair competition. I do have strong belief in the quality of our products and services. Our buckets and attachments stand up for themselves in quality. If you...

    Choosing the right thumb

I work in the design dept of an attachment manufacturer... Let me tell you that as a designer, a pin mounted thumb is the preferred setup!! Sure you can slap on a weld-on thumb and call it a day but it always seem to end up as a compromise. It's easier to get more rotation out of an hydraulic...
