Thanx for the comments. Will probably go with IPD rather than mcBee components. Maybe just a difference in time, but interesting that you were able to get your kit to Australia cheaper than I can get from within the US. I am getting quotes of around $1500 plus tax plus shipping for IPD components. -

Thanx for addressing the McBee-IDP issue. Had tried to deal with diseselrebuiltkits but never got a response from them. Called them this am and they said that IDP was definately the better quality. They are supposed to give me a quote on a McBee and an IDP kit. We shall see ... -

Lots of comments, none of which address the actual IPD vs McBee question. Have service records from CAT documenting 25,000 hrs on machines serial and motor serial is original. Thus, if machine has 25,000 hrs, so does the engine. Yes, probably rebuilt several times. Don't need new head. 3204... -

Not the question i am asking, but there were no guides, sleeves, seals, etc. The exhaust valve was so sloppy that under load it would twist and hit the piston thereby causing all the blowby. There was enough of a problem for an $800 valve job! -

Will need to call IPD tomorrow as they list nothing for the 3204 on their website/store. This dozer has a documented >25,000 hours and that is from CAT. Have seen no physical damage to anything. Having someone come out to look at the pistons, sleeves, etc The rod bearings are all STD. Not sure... -

there are only plugs (look like freezeout plugs) on the front. Parking brake does not go into this box Parking brake linkage is screwed and would need to find parts or modify to get operational (but again, valve is free and unengaged) -

Dont believe it is the parking brake. As I said, it has always been broken, the valve (outside lever) at casing, moves up and down freely, is in the up (disengage position), does not move further up (even with a crowbar). Is there anyway to test the operation of that box (C)? Plan to take the... -

UPDATE: YOu guys have been great. I managed to get the dozer back to the barn so I have power tools, powerwashers, welders, etc to do some work. The dozer did not like it too much, particularlky going up hill and I could only really move in 1st gear but made it with out too much strain. May... -

Changed the transmission filter early on (one of the very first things I did). The filter was clean with no debri or anything else. Have not pulled the suction screen as I believe you have to drain out all the tranny fluid (31 gallons?) to do that. Recall that this recent issue of dozer not... -

From above, the pump pressure (at filter) is about 75psi at idle. P1 is about 300 psi at idle. Will do more testing tomorrow afternoon. How do I release the brakes is the big question... -
