Newbie buying used Cat Excavator - Opinions, Recommendations ?

You mentioned he’s a friend, would he help you install a hydraulic thumb? If so it could be worth it if you can find a secondhand one in good shape.

Newbie buying used Cat Excavator - Opinions, Recommendations ?

Agree with Skyking, At least a hydraulic thumb but if you can, get a progressive link and a 20 tonne class machine. What is your budget? 50 acres ain’t no small amount and paying more than you might have planned will likely save you money and headaches in the long run, clearing is hard on...

    Frame break Komatsu PC 110R

If your an experienced welder then you know what to do, if your not, get an experienced welder. This is not an easy job and if not done correctly will likely break again and be harder to fix.

    Should I buy a PC88MR-10

Try before you buy, I found them painfully slow, well built, comfortable and smooth but way too slow.

Advice on 8 Metric Ton Machine

Both look decent IMO but I’m suspicious of the Tak’s 1200 hrs. I’m Pritty sure the hr meter is digital on the screen, ask if it’s had a screen replace.

    John deere 690elc bushing issue

The barrel is worn, only way to do it right is to get welded and line-bored. Cheap option is to get oversized bushings that will press in tight but you’ll need to visit an engineering expert to measure and fabricate so you get the tolerances correct.

    Long Reach purchase.

The two hauling company’s I use can carry up to 26t, I’m waiting for them to get back to me on where the load stands legally with length being that the boom will extend past the ramps by about 4m.

    Long Reach purchase.

I’m looking to add a Long Reach in the 20t class to my arsenal however my use for it will be condensed into 2-3 months a year cleaning out dams/soaks/ponds in summer. Our seasons here are a little different whereby we have 9 months a year of rain then it abruptly stops for 3 months and is super...

    Cat 308d option valve block

The 2 x pilot control lines trace to separate valve splices on the MCV. one is to the 2nd splice down with corresponding output split into multiple lines but both go to rod-end of stick cylinder, both into the craning valve. the other goes to the 4th spice down but has no corresponding...

    Cat 308d option valve block

Well I bought the machine and was able to change the screen to English. Now to installing a thumb…. Im nearly certain I need to start from scratch and purchase all the electrical and hydraulic components, I’ve done this on an old 210 machine so I’m not daunted. I do have a spare valve splice to...

    8-10t loader purchase advice.

Well CTL’s are not hard to come by here that’s for sure but I’m not a big fan of em. I initially tried to convince myself I needed one but when I started thinking of the jobs I do on the farm a loader fit the bill. I also will likely need to pull a heavy roller and 1.5t fert bin, I don’t think a...

    8-10t loader purchase advice.

Hi. Im looking for an 8-10t machine to run a HD root rake/grapple. So needs 3rd function hydraulics. Machine will be used for a variety of jobs from feeding out hay, loading up hay, moving gravel and sand etc. but mostly raking roots and brush and loading out and stacking trees, roots etc...

    Case 130e

Has it been this way from the start? Look in pump room somewhere below pump should be a pilot control accumulator, looks like a mini hot-air balloon screwed in to a valve block. Diaphragm in it could have failed. you can test it with a gauge. The 2 case machines I operated were fast and...

    Volvo EC150

I’m guessing it’s got a Cummins so is an early model produced around 2000 not long after Volvo bought out Samsung. Good news, it won’t have a screen to constantly sqwark at you with codes, bad news it won’t have the comforts of a newer Volvo nor the cab quality. If the price is right and you’ve...

    Cat 308d option valve block

Yeah true, i should have traced those pilot lines to see where they ended up But I doubt they would have let me pull any panels off the machine as its in an auction yard. There’s 8 x valve splices so I would have thought that would leave one spare.
