    Older Cat Motorgrader SN

Needing to find out if this motorgrader is an early 14. The serial number is 64C446. Anyone have a Cat reference book that shows this. Then once that is known I am in need of an engine. The one that's in it has a window by number1 cylinder that not supposed to be there. Any assistance would be...

Is there anything similar to this still being manufactured

Your absolutely correct on your thinking 1930 about buying from rental company or auction its a good chance it wore out. The only thing I have ever been around that functions well in sand has tracks. The skid steers are a good bet. Almost all larger equipment manufacturers build them. A friend...

Is there anything similar to this still being manufactured

That is a Ditch Witch machine. It is still made although don't know how old the one is in the add. The fencing company I used to repair my fence after a 4x4 pickup slid thru it on ice [dumbass] owned one.

    a606 galion

As I found out later on Galion blades have no operating hydraulic pressure until an implement control is activated. At that time the compensator valve reads the signal and tells the pump to make pressure. I have never in 50 years of wrenching on heavy iron came across a more complex system as...

Empty weight? 97 Ford L8000 8.3L Cummins old county plow truck

Here in Colorado you have to have a certified scale ticket for a title weight and they do tax you by the weight. I purchased a C70 Chevy service truck with a utility body and autocrane loaded that bad boy up with 10000lbs of tools compressor, welder, and whatever else I thought might be needed...

    Trailer brakes not releasing

While looking at the picture notice the upper roller is completely off the S cam. I can also see from the dirt scraped off the cam that there is very little to no movement of the cam. I would completely disassemble all of the brakes clean and reassemble replacing any worn or defective parts to...

RGN vs folding gooseneck buying used trailer for track hoe

Drawback is definitely the word for it. Once the pin/bore gets worn you will have massive movement between 5th wheel and plate more than the 1/4 inch allowed during inspection. I used this trailer daily to move pavers and curb and gutter machines. I had to devise a locking system for the pin so...

    Eager Beaver deck replacement

Most trailer MFG's now are using Apitong wood on RGN's/Lowboy's. The wood is as tough as they come. My local lumber yard got some to redeck one of my trailers. Stuff even is not phased by sheepfoot rollers which will destroy an oak deck.

    Cat 140M2 Snow Removal Tips

I had before retiring several years ago a Cat 14 acquired through a customer of my heavy haul business that went bankrupt. I have always used Cat equipment but now your Deere has a mighty fine machine and giving Cat some serious competition. As it is I purchased an old A606 Galion for a couple...

Proper Machine tie down PC 240 Komatsu

Nevada DOT has a different way of looking at securement. I was hauling D7 cable plow had it tied grabbing the pads to the rails officer noticed as he passed me pulled me over. Lucky for me I also had 4 1/2 chains tied to the chain hooks on the machine frame to the D rings on the trailer. He...

    Oil in coolant

I believe at this point I would clean the cooling system out using the cascade then replace the oil cooler. It doesn't take a lot of oil to make a fairly significant mess. The cooler may be leaking just a little so replacing it is just insuring that the problem is solved.
