Where does the transmission fluid disappear?

Look at it this way…. It will keep the fluid fresh and keep the rear end clean! In all seriousness, good luck on the repairs!

    What's your hoe doing?

Amen to that. Part of the reason it sat so long at the house. I went to finish up the last thing and see a puddle of oil under the tire where the hub seal decided to go out. Then once I get to the property yesterday the neutral cut off switch for the bucket didn’t work. Does the fixing ever...

Gasket Question (for JCB though could be any brand)

On my 555e I was too cheap to buy a replacement gasket from New Holland so I made my own using this…. Small Parts"Buna-N Sheet Gasket, Black, 1/16"" Thick, 12"" × 12"" (Pack of 1)" - SQ-R-BN-G363-60D-006-1200X1200 https://a.co/d/cKN9frR My tank sounds similar to how yours is set up and looks...

    What's your hoe doing?

The thread says... "What's your hoe doing?" Well guess what folks, after almost 16 months of sitting in my driveway at my home in the town that I live instead of being out at the property 15 minutes away, it is back out there!!!! Now I can finally get something down out there instead of...

    555e Hub Seal

1998, I very much appreciate you posting these. My huh rebuild was fairly simple minus a few issues but some of your pictures came in handy. Such as when I knocked my thrust rings off the bench and didn’t know the order. Or trying to get that ring gear off. That was a saving grace. Only...

555E Wheel bearing preload torque spec

I actually had 8 bolts on my ring gear while you had 6 I believe. I tested my bolts before I took them out and they were somewhere between 80-90 lbs. I did notice loctite on them when I took them out. I ended up putting them back in at 80 lbs and adding blue loctite. Should be good to go!

    555e Hub Seal

Well now I feel better knowing yours wasn’t a cake walk haha I went and got my dad’s oxygen and acetylene tanks so I can heat them up. My little blue bottle of propane didn’t work. I too thought of replacing the bolts. I haven’t stripped them yet, but I’m sure it will be forthcoming.

I can’t get these bolts out to save my life. Lucky guy.

    555e Hub Seal

My vent of the front axle was bad as well and I had oil coming out of both sides. I fixed that a while ago and there isn’t oil on the driver side anymore. However when I went to check the oil last week I noticed the passenger side was almost dry. Well now I know what the real cause was.

555E Wheel bearing preload torque spec

I am most likely doing mine this weekend to replace the passenger side hub seal. I’ll let you know what I find out as well.

    555e Hub Seal

Hey NH, did you ever replace your hub seal? My passenger side is leaking again and I'm thinking now is the time to change it, considering its sitting in my driveway at the moment.

Republic Oil 5% Moly #1 Heavy Duty High Temp Grease

I’ve been buying Chevron 5% moly. Last time I bought it was under $50 for a case. No idea what it is now but I would assume somewhere around there.

    555e Floor

Finally was able to get the hose replaced. Honestly it was quite simple. I had fairly good access to everything and had to remove a couple hose connections that were in the way so I had full wrench access. Only 3 issues I came across with one being my fault… 1) I had the hose made about 1-2...

can i use heat to get gland nut loose.

Heat is last option. Try the “peening” method, using a spanner wrench with a big ole bar behind it, or pipe wrench. Those have been my success stories, however I have used a bit of heat also at times.

Drainage Question - Tile Vs. Ditch / Swale

Double check you aren’t going to screw your neighbors. Based on the picture it doesn’t seem like it as it looks to be natural runoff, however once they see a machine problems will “appear” with them as they did with me a few years ago.

    555e Floor

So I crawled under the old girl today and after tracing the hose, it doesn’t look as bad as it initially seemed. Don’t get me wrong it’s going to suck, but luckily the fittings are somewhat in the open. I just hope they aren’t on too tight. On the first picture, it’s under the machine and on...

    555e Floor

Thanks for the pics. Unfortunately where the hose is that I need is more towards the back. No way in heck am I lifting up the cab and I think taking off the seat is going to be a lot more than I want to try. I guess I will just have to see exactly where the hose runs and how best to do it...

    555e Floor

I will look again tonight, but it’s leaking enough that with the machine still sitting in my driveway as it has been for the last year, I might as well keep it here a bit longer Vs doing it out in the middle of the woods 10 miles from home.
