    D9 R's pulling pans(pics)

Undercarriage wear As long as the tractor stays in forward and not reverse I'd expect fairly long undercarriage life in most ground conditions. It's the reverse travel that shortens u/c life. 39.5 x 35 scraper tires are also very expensive to replace. At least tracks aren't succeptable...

old cat saftey vidio that you have to watch

I watched the sequence where the mechanic loses his hand while swabbing the pin bore on the 988 being shot in the Topeka Ks shop of Martin Cat. They had a fake hand on a stick but gave everyone a creepy feeling even knowing it was faked. Martin was the nearest Cat dealer to the film maker...

    Decoding Serial Numbers on 120M

If this has been discussed I apologize for bringing it up again, I couldn't find anything close in the grader forum threads so here goes: Does anyone know what the first three characters (Alpha Numeric Alpha) of 120M graders designate, if anything? For example, B9W, B9N, B9C, D9W. Is...

    Deere 672GP at Plasters

The diff lock switch is really unnecessary as standard equipment includes auto difflock which kicks in when slippage is sensed. A sensor in the front right steering spindle kicks the diff out when the steering angle exceeds 12 degrees.

    Grader Joysticks V Lever Control

Cat was the last one to go hydraulic. They said hydraulic cylinders would bleed off and not hold position like mechanical controls. The "F" series was hydraulic over mechanical, their attempt to eliminate knuckle busting but keep mechanical "precision". Of course the "G" series was their...

    JD G Model Review

G Grader Preview Here's a picture of a prototype 772G I caught this summer. It had the new controls. The operator gave it very high marks. He'd never run an M

    Grader Joysticks V Lever Control

I think electric over hydraulic controls are here to stay, not just on graders but other machine forms, especially those well-suited for automation. I do question the controllability of a motor grader, especially at high speeds with joystick only. I hear stories about M-series accidents...

why this type of grader does not exist???

As a machine form the 764 is more readily associated with the crawler Dozer. However functionally it was designed to perform many tasks associated with graders (knockdown, rough and fine grading at speeds and accuracy exceeding dozers. In many ways it should be considered a hybrid grader-dozer.

How are the JD 770CH's holding up?

I would guess you have very good maintenance practices. 15,000 hours is good component life by almost any measure. 15,000 to 20,000 hours is considered exceptional service life and your '98 very well could have made that with good maintenance practices
