    Eterra auger stopping too easily

I checked the pressures at the stick and directly off the primary pump. I set the relief valves for the max the machine will put out which was 3200 PSI at the auger. Still just stops way too easy. Can’t dig more than a foot deep in relatively easy ground. The auger motor doesn’t get hot to the...

    Eterra auger stopping too easily

I have a Yanmar Vio 35 excavator running an Eterra 2500 hydraulic auger motor. The placard on the motor was 2975 PSI so I set the PTO relief valve to that. This thing just stops on the slightest resistance and I am starting to think there is something wrong with this auger motor. Any ideas?

    Comparable Mini-Ex to a Backhoe?

Thanks for the replies everyone. I think renting the excavator will be the ticket. Most all of the grading I have done and will do is with the box scraper on the tractor, which works great for me.

    Comparable Mini-Ex to a Backhoe?

Possibly in the market for a mini excavator for a new construction home I am starting soon. I already have a 60hp ag tractor with a FEL, so I thought maybe an excavator would be a better route than a construction-size TLB. What size excavator would compare to a Deere 310 or 410? I have over a...

700 ft road during the wet season?

Yeah I see what you are saying with the rip rap. It looks like water doesn't sit anywhere, and almost the entire parcel flows down and to the middle (away from where this driveway is going), then a culvert takes everything under the street and keeps going.

700 ft road during the wet season?

As I'm trying to get my ducks in a row here for trying to make headway on this project this week, here is a better idea of what I am looking at doing. The natural water shed is all in the same general direction over this driveway. I plan on putting in a V ditch on the uphill side of the road...

700 ft road during the wet season?

I’m going to give the fabric a hard look. I like where you are at with the plan there.

700 ft road during the wet season?

I’m not sure what the extent is of top soil, possibly 24,” so no I have not stripped completely. this sounds about the same as what is recommended for this area. My main query is order of operation. Should I strip more, then crown, then compact?

700 ft road during the wet season?

I did strip off the organics, probably need to take a little more off, but I am thinking I will take it down to crown it, and in doing so should remove enough. Here's a picture in its current state.

700 ft road during the wet season?

I'm beginning a 700 ft driveway that will also be a designated fire access road. I need to be able to support a 40 ton fire truck and my geotech is telling me I need 7-10" of road base on top of a 95% compaction of the subgrade (Had a really crappy R-value come back, and I suspect I can get a...

Building a new house in Northern California. Looking at doing some earth moving myself because I have always had a huge interest in heavy equipment since I was a kid.
