Might be a silly question. Have an early 12H with no low range gears and an open circuit on the low range solenoid (H). So far so good, should be an easy fix.
Intermittently there are no gears. Feels like the modulation valve is malfunctioning. Suspect a broken spring or two inside the 178-2554 Valve Gp (page 2, top spool), or a sticky spool, or worse.
Nothing of interest found in the filter or screen.
I'm an hour away from the machine so can't really look properly. Has anyone attempted to remove this spool with trans hyd control valve installed? Can removing the trans hyd valve be done with tranny installed, or is this a tranny out job?
