Lets see...... How's this for a heavy equipment list all working at the same time for 10 hours at a time, over 10 weekends, wrecking 14 bridges?

2- Komatsu PC1250's with Jewell Demolition Packages with LaBounty Shears
1- Komatsu PC800 with Grapple
10 - CAT 345's with NPK hammers and LaBounty Shears
2- Komatsu 450 Wheel Loaders
1- Gradall XL5200
4- CAT Skidsteers with buckets
During the Summer of 2011 MassDOT embarked on an ambitious interstate bridge replacement project that has set the standard for highway infrastructure upgrades for years to come.
Under the direction of a joint venture with J.F. White Contracting Co. and Kiewit Construction, Testa Corp. Dismantling and Site Contractors completed each initial phase of 10 - 55 hour weekend closures.
After redirecting traffic demolition commenced and continued for 10 hours to completely remove each bridge deck and all the structural steel from one (and sometimes two) 4 lane 3 tiered interstate highway bridge.
Once demolition was completed the site was cleaned up and preparations began for Phase 2 - Precast Erection and Placement.
The 55 hour window from Friday 8PM until Monday 5 AM resulted in the complete replacement of 50 year old 4 lane interstate highway bridge with a brand new, modern, heavy duty version. The 93Fast14 project replaced 14 bridges in 10 weekends during the summer of 2011 on time and ahead of schedule.
