Braided fuel lines

I've been reading that cloth braided fuel lines are known for leaking air. I'm thinking that is why the Cummins M11 in my dump truck is losing prime. First pic. is original hose. I figure it must be weeping to get the fur like covering. I exchanged it with the same type of hose from the primer pump I removed. That hose appears to be even worse although it is cleaner. Has anyone else had problems with this type of fuel hose? I think the check valve in the ECM is good so thinking a new better quality fuel line might solve the problem? The only hose with the fur like covering is the one from the check valve to the filter.

Yeah i hate those hoses with a passion.
The dust attracts to the outside. In my mind, that means diesel is seeping through the hose.
You should get a life time out of that filter in the second picture.
