DD15 Question

This is our 2012 DD15 with 450,000 kms.
It has recently developed an annoying little blip in revs when idling.
YouTube tells me that is probably the quantity control valve but I just want to run it past my learned HEF friends to be sure.

Does it smooth out at anything higher than an idle?

I had bought a DD13 that was surging at idle more aggressively than that and a fuel quantity control valve fixed it.

Quantity control valve? Is that the actual technical name for it? Isn't controlling quantity just what a valve does in any application? Might as well call it the valve valve.

Short rant for the day over.

Actually I don't know anything about that particular valve so maybe it makes sense if you understand it's function but that popped into my head when I read it.

Technically speaking, "flow" is not necessarily the same as "quantity".

Appears to run ok under load but apparently the valve is responsible for regulating the very high pressure of the fuel rail and a faulty valve will under and over fuel the engine.
Makes sense, as the dpf has been doing some weird stuff lately.

Technical Term by Detroit-Fuel Meter Quantity Control valve, about 80 bucks.
*Screwed into the back of cylinder head fuel port on a Series 60 is a restrictor
inline fitting--when it goes tits up--stuck open--no start. Same thing-Quantity
Control.

You didn’t happen to leave a zero off that price TS?
Talked to dealer yesterday, they are asking $1300, about $820 USD, for the genuine article.

The quantity control valve should be your problem they constantly go bad on the dd series and are more noticeable on idle not so much on higher rpms you might want to try cleaning it but more than likely the electromagnet is weak
