Just went solo in my own service truck and need to know any recommendations for comm adaptors and programs to use on a laptop to connect with different machines/ trucks ranging from cat to cummins to john deere, etc. Any affordable recommendations?

Some peopl here run diesel laptops texa unit, others run oem stuff. There are other options out there but its very easy to get burned if you don't know what you're doing (as in I've been researching it for a few years now and I'd be treating whatever money I spent on the tool as being wasted until shown otherwise)

There is two guys I know of that will build you a computer. They can both be found on fb. I use Trukkscan. It’s been pretty good so far

One area that is not covered very well is ABS-most scan tools that I know of do a mediocre job.
I have Wabco software combined with a hard drive and monitor with a 75' foot cable and
adapter to trailer. It has never failed to show the issue.
