Here's a couple of pictures of our Komatsu's at work today.:)
The 65 has a paccar vinch and the 85 rippers.
The D85 is a 2005 modell in sand colours.(Dessert colour)
The D65 is a 2006 modell in Norwegian military green.

On the pictures a couple of soldiers is doing a course on the Komatsu dosers.
They got their offisial drivers permit for dozers, but need a course on our Komatsu's before they can drive without supervision by the instructors.
It's a couple of days with theory and practical driving on the machines.
I did the theory yesterday, today we had practical driving to familiarize with the dosers. Tomorrow is maintenance and winching.

The mission they are solving is laying down the edge on a previosly sand pitt.(pitt?)
We are building a oval track for winterdriving down on the bottom. They add water on the snow, and you get skiting ice for main battle tanks. So all the drivers get to try the tank on winter ice.

Here is a video: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=_gp8zsSSQqw

Enjoy the pictures and the video.

Hey Jazak
They are not bulletproof.
We have had armoured dozers before, but the armour got to heavy for the chassis. It ruins the machine over time.
The last dozer was radiocontrolled also.

If you want things like that, IMI builds the armour kit for D8 and up.(Israeli Military Industries)
2 man crew on those, there is a link her on the forum regarding those.
Norway is a peaceloving nation so we dont got them dozers.... ;)

Good you all liked it.
Dpete:
Yes we sometimes do that, but the two drivers here are on a different level of practice.
One of them is in the Army for his military service. He is around 20 and has education and practice from secondary school. He misses more practical driving time before he can be a sertified "craftsman". So he is a good driver.:)

The other one is on his way to Afghanistan, where we have a Komatsu D65 in service. He has the dozerjobb as a secondary jobb. He can move the dozer around and do eazy work.... He needs more practice before he can match the other guy.

And Wulf, its proven: We are the most peaceful nation!:D
(Bad foresight for my ucupation, as an officer though..:( )

Winching with the komatsu D65

Here is some pictures of todays action.:)

Winching was on the program.
We startet with a bit of winching on flat ground to know the levers.(1.pic)
Freewheeling, low and high speed.
Moved on to winching the D85 up the hill.(2.pic)
Ended the day with some "hanging in the wire.":naughty
Dosing down the hill and using the winch to get back up.

The video shows the "hanging in":
First down: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=-oBgVsULriE
Then back up: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=zGE3g7hiXmk
American winch from paccar, Carco H90VS:usa

(And we had a guy inside the D85 up the hill and when going down;security)
Enjoy it.
