Sad to see the obituary for George in today's Mirror newspaper here in Campbell River.
In 1970 or 71 George came to work at the logging division at Gold River and that's where and when I met him.
He made and welded on the required bumpers front and back on my stock car in 1971 plus did a few other things to help me out. During all the years I worked in logging I only knew two other guys I would put into or very near the class of welder/fabricator that he was, and I knew and watched many during my time.
I recall running across him many times the past 28 years, sometimes when I was on my bicycle and he was on his trike, out putting around. We'd always do the "low-down" salute and grin at each other like a couple of old goofs.
I'll miss that and will always think fondly of him.
R.I.P. George...........condolences to family and other friends.
I figure some others here may have known him too, which is why I posted this.
Take care.
