I agree with both of you that word of mouth and referrals are always more powerful. However, it doesn't have to be one or the other. There are lots of FREE ways to help with your online branding. I'm not talking about paid social media campaigns or paying an SEO agency. The reason you probably haven't closed a deal off of Google is because you aren't being found. Emails, writing content, having a website, getting backlinks to your website, posting on social media - all of these are free tactics that will help you get found online. Yes, our industry isn't necessarily conducting business online. But I guarantee a large majority are using Google to find what they need. There is a misconception that you need to spend money online to be found online. If you are the only fuel shop in a 200 mile radius then you have an amazing opportunity to own that area. Anyone googling "fuel shop near me" in that 200 mile radius can land on your business without you spending a dime.
