I HATE ALL OF YOU!! LOL

I stumbled upon this thread last night after posting a question and and answering some other posts.
I was up until midnight reading.........got to Page 30........I see there are 151 pages at present. I need to do some billing this morning and then head out and look at a Pettibone..........but NO, I figure I'm going to just peak at a few more posts...........an hour later. Like getting hooked on a drug.........i guess.

Vetech.......excellent content. Gets the cogs spinning looking at things from a different perspective. Lot of good replies and info. I envy you with the discipline to take pictures and then follow through with posting all of this crap.

Ok......hanging up the computer now. I'll probably go into withdrawals in the truck driving down the road!!

Well, the last 2 weeks have been minimum 12-hour days. Equipment is going down on jobs all over faster than I can repair them. The parts situation has been a disaster with the Deere dealer. Ever since the manager retired and 2 of 4 parts guys quit.............I can't get ahold of anyone in parts on the phone and them responding to emails is a joke. The most experienced guy is so overwhelmed that he forgets to order things, sometimes it's my stuff. It is making things much more difficult and taking way longer than it should.

Yes, I am still self-employed. I have shelved the process they want as I am too busy to have discussions at the moment.........yeah, I'm busy keeping your jobs running and don't have the time to sit and talk about sh*t.

2 things have already changed.
1st the 250G undercarriage. I was told at the last meeting that machine would be set up for getting rid of by whatever means. 3days later Alan texts me and wants to know what I would charge them to do an undercarriage job....WTF? I asked why we are doing this.......he said it's the owner's machine and not the company's unit. I guess that makes the hours and wear different LOL. Screw it......I'll do it and make good money on it, I will tell them "I told you so" later with a smile.

2nd is putting on a helper. I recommended an ex-employee as someone I could work with and is trainable. Alan said he would pull his app. A week later Alan shows up at the shop to see what's going on and I ask him about it. He him-hos around and says he doesn't think that would be a good hire due to how he left the company before with no notice. I called the recommended helper guy and talked to him about that situation, and also his boss at the time that is still with the company. He did tell me that he left with no notice.......bad move and I let him know it. His ex-boss verified the actions but has no problem with him returning as an employee. I asked the ex-boss to talk to Alan, said he would........nothing but crickets since then.

I personally don't punish young people for a mistake. I quit jobs with no notice when I was young and learned from it. It just pisses me off that 1 mistake is keeping this guy from getting a job right now......anywhere.

Needless to say.....I'm currently discouraged. I keep getting asked to give them numbers for a buyout. I'll give you some numbers alright.....F^&* it.....$500K buyout and 50K a month. How's them numbers for ya?!

Don't listen to anything that I say, as my give a crap has crapped out. When he started making excuses on your chosen helper, I would have several large wrenches in the air landing around *Allen* like a !@#%^^ mortar barrage.
Bottom line get me help, and if they are not as good as the guy you won't let me have, don't come back to tell me in person.

Things might change after you retire......

Might as well just keep on keeping on and look someone to buy you out when you retire. Might be nice to find a you buck but It might be easier to to win the lottery

So basically everything they were going to promise you that won't be an issue has become an issue within 2 weeks

Don't sign on to them boys they are not worth your piece if you hire out they will push you harder than now because you won't be independent anymore

Charge accordingly and walk away the only one that will look out for you is you they don't have your interest in mind the way they run that outfit they don't even have the outfits interest in mind

Ok, so after reading the last few pages a few times over, it's a no brainer, the only way you make them even half listen is to go all the way to the top. " Sorry I won't be selling out to you, as for the last month all they have done is prove what a schit show the management is" and explain about the track job and the helper and other lip service they have shown, you will continue to work as a subby and charges are going up next month, also there will be a trainee working with you that will be billed as well, then take on the ex employee to work with you as a subby to you so nothing to cover employee wise.
If the main man doesn't shake the tree hard enough after that, then as Welder Dave says, maybe it's time for a family emergency for a month and let them struggle to sort everything see if they realise what's going off around them. and from what you said about the Deere dealer, now is the time to do it for maximum impact.

This has already crossed my mind.

All great points.

I was told the potential hire to their field truck is supposed to come by the shop sometime today. He wanted to see the shop facility (very smart on his part) before making any commitment. I hope I am there when he is, providing it happens at all today. I'll fill this in if it happens.

In this chapter of "back to stupidity", the concrete crew foreman drug out a Diamond Core Cut 190 saw last week that doesn't run...........only has 82 hours since new. I managed to quickly figure out that the engine is locked up lol. Seems there was a lot of water in the fuel and while sitting in storage for over a year, the water managed to rust out and contaminate the entire fuel system, so everything from the shut off valve (plugged solid) to the fuel pump (plugged solid) and the carb (plugged solid) is pretty much junk. From what I can tell, the fuel shut off valve was never shut off when last used. Over time, not only did the fuel lines and fittings rust, the carb float stuck open after the fuel in it evaporated and the entire contents of the fuel tank leaked (yes, there was an inline filter) into one of the cylinders, through the rings, and into the oil pan, which was over 1 gallon overfull. It's a mess..........a new replacement saw is over $15K.

I got the fuel tank cleaned, the fittings replaced, and a new fuel filter done. Pulled the spark plugs (2-cylinder Honda engine) and filled the cylinders with ATF. 2 days later the engine will now roll over. Replaced the battery, spun the engine over until the ATF was expelled. I just picked up the new carb and fuel pump yesterday..........that's what I am doing this morning. I'll get a few pics this morning so you guys can share in my enjoyment LOL
