Thank you very much for the rapid reply !!! Great to see that John Deere provides access to the parts catalogs for the old machinery. Will provide serial number the next time that I have a question....005357T. System won't let me print the page, but I have it bookmarked now. Must prepare the...

    Deere 570-A Wheel Lean Problem

Just bought a 1977 JD 570-A grader ! In great shape...430 hours on engine...confirmed condition. The wheel lean system needs attention. The wheels will not stay upright after engine has been turned off and machine sits for a few days. Control valve leak ? Cylinder is tight ! Would...

    John Deere 570 A Grader

Hi........ Just bought a nice 1977 Deere 570-A grader for snow work and some road maintenance. Will have all new 15.5-25 tires on it. Wondering about chains for it. Any recommendations out there ? Understand studded ones or V-bar chains are good for grader work in snow and ice. Pewag and...

    John Deere 570 A Grader

Hi....... You sound like a man with much experience and many stories !!! I have looked at Austin-Western graders...both Pacer and Super models. Like the 4x4 and 6x6 AWD and AWS systems, but turning radii are still huge without articulation and parts are a problem...given their age. Have...

    John Deere 570 A Grader

Thank you for the float information !!! Already have a 1996 Ford F-250 with 4x4 drive/automatic transmission and 460 CID engine. Plow with all four tires chained up and 400 pounds of cinder blocks in the bed. Very heavy/wet snows...such as last year early in the season...kept me out on the...

    John Deere 570 A Grader

Hi..... Did you fix the problem ??? Would like to know about 570-A issues, as I may buy one. Does the blade have a float function ? The 570-B brochure says that it has one, but no mention of float capability in the 570-A brochure. Want to use one for snow on a one-mile private road...

    Deere 570B Reliability

Hi........ Looking at a Deere 570B motor grader for snow work and rare road repair work ! Found one with almost 16,000 hours on the engine meter. Seems like a lot of hours. It has a 6059D...non-turbo...engine. Machine appears to be really well maintained...1994 model. Should I stay away...

    Deere 570-A Blade Control

Hi........ Thinking about purchase of John Deere 570-A grader for snow removal. Has great turning radius and full hydraulic control of blade functions....with side shift. Can the blade be placed in "float mode" ? No mention in the brochure, while that capability is mentioned in brochures of...

    Austin-Western Super 500 Serial Numbers

FYI, note that the unclear, second serial number plaque is attached to the scarifier assembly....perhaps more like a part number. In any case, the 566 number is the serial number of the grader itself.

Progress on the AW supper 300

Thank you !!! Amazing that they thought the rear steer was a major improvement over the rigid technology. Can't imagine the turning radius of a CAT grader in 1965 with no rear steer and no articulation. For example, a 1969 John Deere 570A....with 22 degrees of articulation...has a turning...

Progress on the AW supper 300

About 17 years since your last response. Machine looks awesome as of 2004. Did you complete all of the chores....including installation of the brass handles ?? Recent picture ? Am looking at a 1971 Super 500 with GM 6V71 engine with unknown hours. Wondering about turning radius. Manual...

    Austin-Western Super 500 Serial Numbers

Yes, you are correct. The English company licensed the designs and built machines there. I believe that one of the forum members worked at one of the plants in England. Company history: https://contractormag.co.nz/classic-machines/forgotten-companies/austin-western/ FYI...I found a list of...

    Austin-Western Super 500 Serial Numbers

Hi.......... New to the forum !! Thinking about purchase of an Austin-Western/Clark Super 500 grader. Seller states "late 70s" model. Seems to have two serial numbers: 1] 566 6824 on Clark plaque and 2] P35 1687 ? Second one is hard to read...not sure of numbers. Second number plaque...
