been awhile-small update on 'Callie', the Case 850

We know it can't be converted. Said that in previous post. We thought about the A-coil. Cat hair would be the culprit. Probably can't be cleaned without causing a leak.

running box fan on high 2' from 1 cold air return; husband has gauges for working on our car's a/c, so he checked house. topped off R22 3? weeks ago, may need it again. Can't convert to newest coolant, R410a?. 2.5 ton unit, should be at least 3 ton, since we added 16x24 in 2005. Question---does...

been awhile-small update on 'Callie', the Case 850

Thanks! Can I guess you're not in Kansas? >grin< Husband and I are going into the attic 1st thing in the morning and put up insulation between two room additions. We'll work until it gets too hot up there. Go get more supplies, if needed, then hit it again Saturday morning. We think the original...

been awhile-small update on 'Callie', the Case 850

Hi, just to let eveyone know she's still kicking. I got the back cushion rebuilt, with new wood (painted 2 coats), 4" dense foam, and rust-colored vinyl. Looks mush better, and won't come apart when removing it. I wanted visible evidence she was being repaired. Husband put some sealant in...

One hose had already split and was spraying underneath, the other one was frayed and broke off while removing it. The hoses we replaced had both orange and yellow paint on them and were checked and crazed. Two of the hoses had been replaced 25? years ago, and still looked good. They're protected...

Replaced 4 transmission hoses and no leaks! Checked dipstick, showed half way up to full mark. Pushed trees into pile for about half an hour, checked again---no fluid showing. We'd put 3 gallons of fluid in earlier. now to put 3 more in. Probably needed to refill charge pump first? Valve...

Ok, I did a new post on our progress with 'Callie' and the transmission leak, not knowing I should've posted HERE. Anyway, after putting in 3 gal.of fluid, got her a lot closer to the shop. Yesterday, we put in 1 1/2 gal more fluid, fired her up, and watched the hoses under the seat. Upside-down...

    Callie will be mobile soon!

We found the transmission leak! After putting 3 gallons of fluid in, got her back to the shop. Put in another 1 1/2 gal., fired her up, and watched the hoses under the seat. One of the 18" lines had split at the fitting, and was spraying fluid. So we've ordered 6 hoses and fittings, and for...

Can everyone here agree a good mechanic is worth his weight in gold? For those repairs beyond our capabilities, we found a mechanic who rebuilt 2 cylinders, including having to open one up to put a different style wiper in, which made machining it necessary. Both done for 560.00, and his shop is...

    Case 850 crawler---dozer, earthmover, ???

I found a yard in Oklahoma that has ROPS for this machine. We do plan to put one on it, but will have to wait for funds to build. Did I mention we've retired in last few months? Still trying to figure out how that works---we're working harder now than when we had paychecks!
