My KW only 'Shows' 440xxx, Processor was reported to have over 800xxx. More speedometers are broken than functional. Fixed this one and it logs miles again.

I get the impression a lot of truckers think every truck is moving 65 mph down the highway all day, every day. I always encourage people to look at the hours to get the whole picture.

I did a job awhile back where we needed a backhoe. The truck that brought the backhoe was started probably at 7, drive 45 miles and idled the rest of the day till about 3, drove 45 miles home and was done.

That's an extremely hard day for a truck, especially if they change oil on miles and not hours.

Typical day in a Dump Truck, about a third of time is Load Off Load time on or off PTO and sitting at idle o0r fast idle. Yards are Dustbowls and hard on anything sucking air.

And with that I can really be sarcastic----Idle time for 5 months out of the year-sometimes 6 for hot
weather, running a engine at a replacement cost of lets just say 50 grand to even things out, all to
cool ones a$$ crack & keep sack sweat in compliance, not to mention the cost in diesel-----Is nut's.
No pun intended. The driver-{If you think I'm going to set in there and sweat you got another
thing coming}---as he reaches for another Little Debbie snack. {The object is to put weight on
not lose it}.

During summer and winter months we had trucks with as much as 75% idle time.

I used to haul chips and sit next to other trucks for an hour or two at a time at the mill. Even on mild days guys won't shut their trucks off. They tap the throttle to reset the auto shutdown from time to time and once I heard one start to shut off but he must have been quick enough to click the key off and on again before it stopped turning so it picked back up. I want to shut it down and have some vibration-free quiet.

I've seen ~10yr old trucks with 60,000 hours on them.

Each truck out of the 65 had a cost sheet, and those costs followed the drivers as
they switched trucks.

Its not so much idle time though, its application.

I did the math on one of my dad's trucks one time - it averaged a speed of about 35 km/h over its life. It also spent its life pulling 120k lbs out of the bush every day. It idled for maybe an hour a day at most.

This day and age application doesn't matter but the diesel particulate filter does. And the real bad
thing is with all the extended oil change intervals--high idle time is forgotten. A 30,000 interval
becomes 35 to 40,000.

You need to work the engine though to keep the DPF happy. Sitting in a truck stop, idling 10 hours a day is a lot different than your truck pulling its guts out on a bush road all day and then being parked and shut down all night.

This T800 had 900,000 on it with 38,000 hours before it caught fire and burnt to a crisp.
All on original head, injectors, and lower end. They had several of these, would get stuck
being used to clean up ground piles at the elevators, Just round and round all day all night
no mileage just hours.

Kid from AB contacted on the KW, had found it in a older Trk Ppr deemed it a positive to ask on.
Is completing his ticket apprenticeship where will be looking for one such as this. No speaking on price, discounts or adjustments, just what all was done. Has six months to his process completion where is what he considers a choice product.

I did warn of looking into import requirements and $$ exchange rates. He said are several people assisting his considerations on both counts.
