It did seem a little tight around the thrust bearing When I pulled it. To be honest I was looking more at the rod journals than looking for bluing.

I think the dealer should take some responsibility. Just because the oil pump was good doesn't mean all the other parts were.

IMG_8254.jpegTerex mulcher today. Quit down in the woods with the water in fuel light on. Replaced fuel filters. Had to bring out the fuel water separator and clamp it in the vise and use the 48” pipe wrench to loosen it. Fuel gauge read half a tank. Couldn’t get it to prime. Rigged up a fuel can to get it to the truck. Tank had about 2 gallons of water and nothing else in it. Runs way better with fuel in the tank

Well Mike...........on the bright side..........it doesn't look like its raining!!
Don't you love it when you have to take the whole housing off, stick in the vise to get it loose, then hoof it back to machine and re install. Did you have to drill out any broken bolts after you got it off??

I'm curious if the bowl survived with that much force on it. Looks like something else must have required a lot of force as the pipe wrench handle looks bent a little. I like the clevis idea. You could put a come-a-long on it instead of having to use a long snipe. I also like the aluminum. I bought a 48" standard Ridged pipe wrench to get gland nuts off but it's 34lbs. The 60" you almost need a crane or helper as it's 51lbs.

Machine was about 1/4 mile down a road I didn’t dare drive down. Took a wheelbarrow to lug tools and still made about 6 trips. another inch of rain coming tomorrow. At this rate I need a service boat.

Yes. Both the o-ring and oil pressure connector tube were new. I’ll look again at the connector tube when I go back to it. I really don’t have a cause of failure. Everything on the bottom end was starved and the top end looks good. Deere wants just under $10k for parts to fix this block or $13k for a short block.

Have you looked for aftermarket or used?

I haven’t found much used and I’m not sure the customer would want aftermarket. He was adamant about using Deere parts the first time around. I’m open to anything that solves the issue and keeps everyone happy and not bankrupt
