    Cat 277C Hydraulic System Question

Think I’ll play it safe and switch it out and see what happens. I don’t want to create a situation when It drops the suction head into the pump to a point that the pump starts to cavitate. I thought I was doing good by using a filter to clean system out after putting several new hoses in. But...

    Cat 277C Hydraulic System Question

Haven’t had the machine that long. Operated may 10 hours since owning. Maybe 2 hrs of operating since getting it all back together. I just noticed it today. I noticed the oil level down in the sight glass, but thought it’s just the air working it’s way out of the system because there are no...

    Cat 277C Hydraulic System Question

Hey Nige, Breather seems to be fine. No restrictions at all. You know I switched to a ultra high efficiency hydraulic filter since I had the hydraulic system open to replace several hoses. Could that be causing the vacuum effect that I am experiencing. Not seeing any bypass indicator warning.

    Cat 277C Hydraulic System Question

I noticed that after running the machine and letting it cool down, next day, the hydraulic oil level seems to drop in the sight glass. When I remove the hydraulic cooler cap to add more oil there is a slight “hiss”. After this the hydraulic oil level returns to the normal level in the sight...

    Cat 277c AC Charge

Yea Nige, at .60kg the pressure on the low side was like 10psi. I knew that couldn’t be right.

    Cat 277c AC Charge

Out of curiosity, what is the total amount of oil that should be in the system?

    Cat 277c AC Charge

Wanted to provide an update on the AC charge for this machine. Just completed the charge and the 2.8 lbs mentioned in the service manual appears to be correct. When only putting in 1.32lbs (.60kg) per the tag I found in the belly resulted in very low pressures. When I got to the 2.8lbs the...

Cat 277c Hydraulic Accumulator Precharge Pressure

Yea, I may just order the recharge valve and relieve the pressure myself. I don’t trust the dealer to do the right thing if I go back a 3rd time.

    Cat 297c rear axle removal

I’m not an expert, but believe it is designed to move side to a bit. It’s likely the axle bushings are worn as well.

    Cat 297c rear axle removal

There should be washers. The parts manual calls out for 4. I assume it’s for 2 on each side. When I disassembled mine one side had one and the other side had 2. I’m going back with 2 new ones on each side. They are not very thick and will likely not take up the entire gap.
