    Cat D8H

I go to that auction in California all the time, and one needs to be VERY careful there, because they allow the owners to up the bids (they're bidding online, of course they won't let you know that). Keep a careful eye on bidders if bidding there. In my experience, that dozer will easily go...

D5H front track roller frame broke

Postheating is almost as important as preheating. Be sure to do both or the welds may tend to crack. Also, don't get too carried away preheating. Do the research on what heat for what thickness of material. What welding method and filler are you using?

    Dozer Pics

1987 cat d4b This is a picture soon after I picked up my CAT D4B. I have been very happy with the performance of this piece of equipment. Plus, my four year old daughter loves "Daddy's new yellow tractor" too. She's always up for a ride around the field on it.

    Welding vs. replacing grousers

It's a 1987 D4B standard track. I don't know length of the track off hand. I think there are 39 shoes or so on each side. I was planning on adding 1" tall bars. If you could give me a rough price that would be great! Thanks.

    Welding vs. replacing grousers

Where is my best bet for researching pads and is someone supplying "grouser bars" or do I just call my steel supplier? Also, what rockwell hardness should I look for? I'd like to price those out, then figure welding. Thanks.

    Welding vs. replacing grousers

I'm looking at some worn out grousers on my dozer, and wondering if I should replace the shoes or I've heard of welding on replacement grouser bars. I own a welding/machine shop, so I don't have to worry about paying labor, but I'm wondering what is the better route for grousers? I'm sure new...

    Cat D4B Hour meter problem

Thanks, that's actually what I have done in the mean time, and it works fine. I'll just keep it that way.

    Cat D4B Hour meter problem

I bought a 1987 Cat D4B, and hour meter does not work. I hooked power up to it directly, and it works fine, but it's not getting power through the harness. So, my question is, where does the hour meter get the 12V supply from? I've traced it from the meter into the harness, but can't figure...

My 1948 International TD-9 "Orchard Model"

Interesting. I'll have to try that.

My 1948 International TD-9 "Orchard Model"

Yeah, it was supposed to be my "winter project", but my winter has turned out way busier than I had planned. Maybe next Summer. I think when I do finally get around to it, I'm going to completely tear it down, and restore it ground up. I'm looking forward to it!

My 1948 International TD-9 "Orchard Model"

I bought it from an an old farmer down the street a couple of years ago, and after sitting 15 years in his barn, he went out, added a little fuel, battery, and it fired right up. It's an amazing piece of equipment. I've never had a problem starting it up. Our winters get down to the mid 20's...

My 1948 International TD-9 "Orchard Model"

These are pictures of my 1948 International TD-9 "Orchard Model". Due to the majority of our local crops being Almonds and Peach orchards, many of these crawlers were "converted" to orcard models. This meant moving the operator to the rear of the tractor to prevent them from pulled off by a...

    Dozer blades

Thanks, I gather it's a six way with a straight blade. I've been very impressed by how well it does the finish grading. Very easy to control and create smooth surfaces.

    Dozer blades

Sorry, I guess my question was pretty wide open. I'm really trying to fiqure out what my 1987 Cat D4B has. For some reson I am unable to upload a picture. However, my blade is straight across the top and bottom, then flares out about 6" at the sides. Creating somewhat of a "U" shape. What...

    Cat D4B Fuel gauge?

Curious as to why there is no fuel gauge for my 1987 D4B dozer. What is the reason for this, and how should I go about metering my fuel. I ran it out of fuel once and don't care to do it again. Thanks in advance, Dan.
