    Cat 12g throttle operation

Not sure about a cat, but in a champion with a stand up cab, you can work the throttle like a dozer. A lot of the older fellas used to grade standing up, and it was easier to run the fuel that way with your heel.

How old is it. Looking at pictures of newer ones, they look like a Dynapac

Re Arching a 1972 Cozad RGN

I like how the scarifier seems hydraulicly adjustable. it looks like it would fit the back of my Mauldin grader.

Re Arching a 1972 Cozad RGN

Speaking of box, he has a nice looking box scraper with a scarifier that would have been handy for your dirt track.

In search of childhood trojan frontloader

Maybe you could find a similar one. I have my grandfather's old TEA20 tractor. The only thing on it that was his, is the rear axle, and a few other things. Everything else has been replaced from part machines over the years, but I still consider it the same tractor.

    Volvo L40

He has no hydraulics besides steering. Our L45 has an e stop button that kills everything, can't remember if it kills steering or not. There is a rocker switch on the right post that kills hydraulics. There is a dial that turns travel speed down, and a dial to slow aux feed

    Volvo L40

Is it new to you, or have you had it for a while. Our L45 has a lot of switches and knobs that will disable hydraulic functions

Smooth transition from flat to slope

That would be perfect. Just be sure it's not full of water, or take it out in winter.

Smooth transition from flat to slope

They're not cheap, just make sure it's percent not degrees. I think cat had small plastic stick on ones, that's all you really need. . This is what I run. The one I had on my 730 was right on the money. I have the same one on the Volvo, and it's always off

    Accomadating a neighbor

You can only do so much. At one time our shop/asphalt plant was outside the city. As the city expands, we are now inside the limits. There is a noise by law, no construction noise before 7am. There is a tree buffer, and I think they try to make nice with the neighbors. Sometimes in order to have...

Smooth transition from flat to slope

Anything that changes between the front and back wheels will be cut or filled as long as there is pressure in the MB. If they are not drastic changes in cross fall, you should be good. Get yourself a slope meter if you don't have one. Make sure all your tires are equal, park some place you know...

Champion 740 wheel stuck on hub

Drain the oil, and check for metal. You can always put the same oil back in. Get her to spin once you get the wheel back on. Can't be a chain if you say they both turn if not under load, but they should always spin together

Champion 740 wheel stuck on hub

As far as I know, while there might be some slack in the chains, the front and rear wheel should always be locked together on the same side.

    Starting a crane service

Yes that is something that has taken off here. There were 2, and now there is one local guy. He has a truck, a trailer and a mini excavator, and he goes steady. I think you have to buy into a franchise, and they supply the driver head for your machine, and the screw piles. I think he actually...

    Starting a crane service

Most of the auto forums are like that. Everyone is an expert there, and even if they don't know they will tell you what they think. You can get good info here, but sometimes threads can spin off topic, perhaps a sign of ADHD among construction types.......SQUIRREL!!!!!

    Starting a crane service

It depends on your area as well. At the moment, this guy is the only local boom truck service besides Irving equipment, and they are mostly heavy cranes that have to drive 2 hours to get here. That's the thing as well. Depends how dedicated you are. A co worker's wife has started her own dental...

    wheel nuts

I have never used an impact. I actually just use the Ford wheel wrench. However, I bought 4 new tires at one point, and I'm going to guess they used an impact, because shortly after, it started. Plan is to get 24 chrome, and 24 zinc coated for winter

    Starting a crane service

Boom truck. Young fella here worked for a local boom truck company. They were more of an industrial company, and while they would rent out to private, they kept more to their own jobs. They got out of boom trucks. He bought one, and now he has 3. He does everything commercial, private. He also...

720 A leaking hydraulic fluid into transmission?

Is it actually over full? Our 730 used to do that, but it was building pressure for some reason. They made a small tank, and mounted it on the back of the cab. The oil would spray into the tank, but then drain back into the transmission when there was no pressure. No idea what caused the...

    wheel nuts

Ford wants over $200 for 24 of them. I know an F350 at work has the ones that hold the wheel centers on, and they were over $500, as you can imagine, that truck no longer has centers. Amazon has the ones from the lug nut guys anywhere from $40 to $150
