    moving a 160 excavator

Perfect Solution I have a 1984 Kenworth W900 setup with a Pierce 35 ton lowboy... You can buy the combo and haul that machine anywhere you want! You can see pictures of it hauling my 120 size machine and my D6d at www.petersfamilytrucking.com

    dump truck profit

A cheaper, older dump truck with a smaller engine... You just don't need 525 hp to run at 48-52,000 gvw... Unless your using a transfer dump or pulling a 4 axle dump trailer. I have an old narrow hood Kenworth W-924 with a small cam 350 cummins. It has plenty of power and will run day in and...

    No front brakes!!!!

My good looking old KW W922 doesn't have front brakes... That's how you can tell if your new driver is adjusting the brakes for his pre-trip. Just ask him, "were the front brakes out of adjustment?" When he lies, which he will, you have him poke his nose under the truck!

    Truck Insurance

Not sure if I'm supposed to post this sort of stuff here, but what the hell! If you've read my posts, you've picked up on the fact that Peters Family Trucking has been having a very difficult time getting enough work to support all the expenses... Fuel just about killed us and the slowdown...

Owning and operating costs for Dozers

Great information for the large Contractor with a steady flow of work... Unfortunately, us small contractor's, who are being affected in unimaginable ways by the downturn in the economy, have to figure in some other factors. For example: Cat D6D Expenses: Purchase Price...

    Slow to get full power

My throttle handle got difficult to pull and it turned out the spring was rusted inside the governor (not sure if that's what it's called). We ended up taking it apart, from where the throttle linkage goes into the governor and rebuilding all those little pieces and installing a new spring. I...

    Deere 120D

Thank you very much... I will DEFINITELY not try adjusting it myself! If anyone knows how to get an affordable radiator for a 490E, I would appreciate it. J.D. wants WAY TOO MUCH!!!! www.petersfamilytrucking.com

    Slow to get full power

From my experience, the black smoke and loss of power has always been a turbo issue... The fact that it eventually comes up to full power is a bit of a mystery. I know that my D6D takes a little a few minutes before it really starts moving and pushing with ease, but it doesn't have a black...

    Deere 120D

I love hearing the nice comments about the 490E... I have one with 6300 hours on it and it seems to still be in great condition. It has been a real workhorse, but it's nice to know I'm not the only fan of that model. I don't know anything about an "A" sensor... What am I needed to adjust...

    With the price of fuel

It's not only the money I am having to pay for fuel that's hurting... Since the economy is in such a state of disarray, I am now competing with multi-billion dollar companies for little jobs that wouldn't have hit their radar 12 months ago. I am a very small operation with low expenses and a...

    Bogged Cat 312

I'm a professional at getting myself in stupid situations, but this is better than I've ever done!

    Deere 120D

They could paint it up like a traveling hippie van and I'd still trade my 490E for that 120D... That is a very nice machine! Truth be known, I hate it when they start making too many color schemes on a piece of equipment... It makes getting it repainted all that much more expensive.

    Peters Family Trucking

If you look behind the truck, you'll see the machine that picks up the asphalt from the windrow the truck leaves and creates a smooth surface. Wow, someone from South Africa checking out our work... Very cool!

    Peters Family Trucking

It's a 1984 Kenworth W-900 with a Cummins 400 BCIII. It has been a great truck that doesn't burn a drop of oil and has good power. It's never the newest or shiniest truck on the job, but it sure is dependable. www.petersfamilytrucking.com You can see pictures on our website of just...

    Long Reach

I sometimes complain because my lowboy doesn't break down and I have to load over the side or over the beavertail. After watching this video, I'll never complain again! http://youtube.com/watch?v=FE02TxLlRQU&feature=related

    Peters Family Trucking

The Trucks Are Actually Working... Wow, it seems like it's been forever since the trucks have worked. With fuel prices hovering around "way too much", we've let the trucks sit until a good job came along. We are now on an Asphalt grinding and overlay project that is going really well...
