Hello everyone, hope to get a little guidance from the members. I have done lots of research and talked to mechanics about my problem. But still not having any luck and can't figure which direction to proceed.
I have a 2006 Case Super m 590 Series 2. It now has 11000 hrs on it. About 4 months ago it started slipping in Forward and Reverse. I went ahead and changed the fluid, filter and checked screen., torque converter was dry as well. The fluid in the transmission was not hy-trans. It was standard hydraulic oil 32. I am the second owner. I replaced the oil (hytrans) and filter etc and it seems better when cold but as it warms up it starts to hesitate and slip. Once it gets rollin it seems ok, but when u put it under a load its starts slipping and won't move much under load until you lighten the load. Have switched out the oil twice now. On the dipstick there is still a touch of the old oil present. Any thoughts?
Thank you for your time and hopefully a little advice.

George

Welcome to HEF @oldcutmarina & your first post.
We just need to confirm if you have a shuttleshift transmission - as it would seem by your mentioning "checking the screen".
(4 sp manual transmission on right of steering wheel?)
If so, there is a broken snap ring issue in the control valves - but with 11k hrs on it - it could be a worn charge pump.

Good evening, yes it is 4 speed manual transmission. When I purchased it 5 yrs ago it had 9ooohrs on it. I noticed that it seemed to have a slight problem with heavy loads pushing forwards etc but wasn't a huge issue. This year that all changed. It started to shutter and slip in 1st , 2nd etc after it hit normal operating temp to the point were it wouldn't move . So I would shut it down so it could cool off. After 1hr or so it would work again but after it reached Normal temp it would do it again. When it would stop moving in forward if I used the front bucket to help it along it would move again. Driving down the road with no load on it, it will move along just fine. When using the 4x4 that usually makes it worse. If u feel it is the charge pump i will proceed in that direction. Is there anyway to test the pressure? I really appreciate your reply as I am getting ready to open up the Marina and of course, i need it working for various jobs. Was going to float it to a dealership, but the turnover times right are horrific, plus I'm sure charge pumps are not a common item. I will standby for your next post.

Thank u

There are a number of threads that talk about this.
A worn pump will not really be able to be tested without a flowmeter & special adapters to connect it up in place of the transmission filter - so it becomes guesswork.....
Some of the threads that will help below, they speak of 580L's & M's but the transmission is the same, also, the same threads may cross link back to each other -

Here is the pressure test procedure

Well, finally got a chance to start dealing with the transmission, took out the floor. , front rubber curtain and found the top of the transmission. Noticed right at the start a crack that runs along the top of centre solenoid housing. About 4inches long. When I first replaced the oil I noticed the dipstick was severely rusted on the top half?

I have a 580 M transmission issues of my own, but not quite the same. I dont have any good words of advice for you other than to share this youtube video where he tears down a rust L transmission. Its a little too long, watch the first and last 10% but zip through the middle. He talks about a vent that gets plugged.
Good luck

Hello again everyone, had to check out for a while. I ended up reinstalling the cleaned up parts for the shuttle shift. It made quite a difference, but after you run it for about 30 minutes and work it , it starts to screw up again. Meaning, shuttering and not moving, but if you help it along you can still drive down the road etc. I have the parts ready to order thru case, but I just wanted some input from the members if I am going down the right road here. Thanks, George
