As far as I know, you should be able to change speeds on the fly, (but I could be wrong on that)

Yes. My 953 BBX can switch speeds on the go.

OK, I have more questions.

1. Is the lack of low/high speed the only problem you have with the machine drive system.?

2. Does the machine go smoothly from zero to top speed in both directions in response to the movement of the F-N-R control.? Apart from the known issue that the machine locks up when you put it in high range.

3. To the best of your knowledge has anyone messed with any adjustments on the hydrostatic drive motors.?
