I have a cat 951B Serial number 86J1178 not sure of the year? Would anyone be able to tell me what year it is.

I’m also looking at a cat 941B not sure of the year. To be used as a parts machine. How much of the parts would be interchangeable. I’m not sure what the differences are between the two.

Thanks for any help

Loader frame and rams different, track frame and all track groups different, engine different as the 951B has the 330C fitted, 941B has the 3304 fitted unless very early first year build, final drive gears different tooth count, bevel gear and pinion different tooth count, the engines can be swapped with a small bit of work, some of the transmission bits can be handy, they both use UNC bolts.

Your 951B is a 1969. In 1972 both the 941 and 951 went to the 3304 engine. My book shows the original D330 being 80 hp in the 941 and 85hp for the 951, book does not show hp ratings for the 3304 engine.

On Which machine is the 955H undercarriage acceptable to put onto the 951?

Lots of 951B Series Loaders had the CAT conversion to the later 6.91" pitch from the 6.75" pitch they were fitted with from new build, so check your track pitch before going the wrong route.

Thank you sir
Just thought I would add a few details, the 951B to the 951C series change came in at Serial Number 69H1869, the 951C engine changed from the 330C to the 3304 engine came in at Serial No 2520, this makes it the Spring of 1973.
