Maybe because GM sold the division and the new guys are redoing it. Just my guess.

GM did retain ownership of the Allison plant in Baltimore that builds the Allison 1000 M/D trans that goes in the 2500-5500 series. (5500 series has an optional 2230 RDS series-don't know what plant it comes from).
