Pretty sure your converter will have to come out in pieces. Not a big deal just a ton of 5/16 bolts and washers.

Wow, mine manual is a 1979 one we bought when we did the suction tube the first time. It's been so long and now daddy is dead, but I don't remember him making me remove all the torque converter. seems like I took the housing and torque converter in one piece. But I'll probably plan on taking it all to pieces the way zlssefi said.
