I left the fuel distributor I was working for and struck out on my own in January.

I got an interesting call for help from a friend that works in the health care industry. The portable digital X-ray cassette reader they are using in their Corona Virus emergency triage center wasn't working properly and wanted to know if I could possibly help.

OK. I downloaded the instruction manual for the machine and read up on it. Figured out it probably just needed cleaned. Two of the doctors removed it from the "hot zone" for me and carried it to the main building. I took the cover off, followed the cleaning instructions for the rollers, cleaned the cassette holders and used plenty of isopropyl alcohol to clean everything. I was donned in my PPE the whole time. Not the normal bio-med looking white lab coat dude. FR coveralls, p100, nitrile gloves, goggles, rubber boots, lol,...

Put it all back together and the Imaging Manager ran some tests, checked technique and got the triage center back in service so they could do chest x-rays for Corona diagnosis.

The reason they called me for help is because there just isn't anybody else to do it, locally. Rather strange job. But, it is the apocalypse, so what the hell. The local hospital is swamped and this local clinic is ramped up doing all they can to help folks out. Alaksa has cases in Fairbanks, Anchorage, Seward and its spreading like wildfire in Ketchikan. When the virus hits bush Alaska, it's going to be really bad.

I volunteered my right hand so the x-ray tech could do a test picture. I'll post it later.
I don't think I'll invoice it. Or, if I do, I'll issue it as a credit or something so they can track the donation.

Congratulations on the big step to your own business and many pats on the back for helping out those in need.
